Contacts from Palm TREO 750P downloaded numbers
when you download or sync contact info from your old phone to a new one, let say a blackberry, there is always a couple of steps involved which should get you operational, with this I mean getting your notes and addresses. being the reality that there is not a single "standard" for addressing the fields in the different database formats nor a open format for information interchange, then the manufacturers decide which field number correlates with the field name they want it mapped to, then when you export the info to a CSV file you may be able to get your notes and addresses but sometimes then the migration doesnt map the fields correctly then you dont get all the info you need, in my case when I needed the info synced from a treo to a blackberry then to a motorola cliq I just synced the device with outlook in both cases and the conversion took place without a glitch, sometimes if the two devices are too dissimilar then you may have to tinker a little with the database formats of the fields mapping but most important is to make a tested and proper backup because sometimes after migrations in some cases the migration software changes the data adding a couple of fields or notes to each contact then you have corrupted although operational address book in the origin device and some of the info in the destination device. not funny, in my case I had to try a couple of times to get it right . knowing from which device and to which device you are going may let me provide you with more info about the proper correct procedure. you may not get the sms text messages, though. but that is a totally different story. I may oist a guide later if the time allows me to.
