Replaced bulb in Mitsubishi WD-52525 and it still does not work

The red light was on solid, and the manual said to replace the lamp. I bought a new lamp and put it in, but still no picture. The fan comes on, it tries to power up and then in about 20 seconds the red light comes back on. I remove the cover and reset everything. I removed the bulb cover and placed placed a plastic piece in the switch so I could see what was going on. We the timer went off and I pressed power, the fan came on, the bulb lit up for about 10 seconds and then went out and the fan stayed on. A few seconds later, the red light came on again. This happens with both lamps (old and new). I don't know if this is normal or not. I talked with the Mitsubishi rep and they claim it is the bulb. I'm not sure they know what they are talking about. Can the lamp come on partially and then go out, meaning it is bad? What is the likelyhood that two bulbs would do this? Any other ideas of what might be going on?

I did not operate the tv with the cover off but I am having the same problem. After the limp indicator was solid red, I replaced the lamp and the tv still does not work. One sign that the lamp is bad is a small white cloud like haze in the center of the lens. My old lamp does have this but my new one is clear even after attempting to start the tv with it.

I was able to find the problem on the power board with the help of another gentleman on this forum. I have two bulged capacitors, C9A37 and C9A38. Now I am trying to determine if I have to replace the entire board or just the capacitors? I don't know where to get the capacitors though?

I also just replaced a lamp and now cannot get a picture. The power and amber lamp bulb comes on, then after about a minute, shuts off with only a solid red lamp light. I pressed the Device and Menu buttons and got a blink code of 34. Can someone tell me what that means?

    Thanks.

Sorry no solution here. I am getting the same solid red light, and code 34 (bulb malfunction). I am a power supply designer, so I pulled out the power supply and the ballast, just to look. The ballast looks fine. The power supply had four bulging electrolytic caps. The values were almost zero (1000uF cap measures 30uF). I replaced all of this brand of cap (never heard of it, undoubtedly a low cost, low quality, high failure part). I didn't change any of the Nichicon caps, as these is a good quality brand. The caps didn't fix my problem unfortunately. I am thinking now of pulling the Format board to look at those caps. One note on these caps - depending on where they are in the ckt, they may need to be very low impedance types. If you want to try changing the caps, use something like Panasonic FM series or equivalents from Nichicon or Rubycon for example. Make sure the data sheet says very low ESR or similar. Otherwise you can expect them to fail again.
So I am still trying to fix mine. Looking forward to someone figuring this out and telling us all what to do.

I replaced the capacitors (C9A37 and C9A38) on the control board and that fixed it.

I have the same problem. First the lamp failed. I replaced the lamp powered up, the set attemped, to start then the solid red lamp came on indicating that the set needed srvice. further, I e-mailed mitsubishi asking for a service manual so that a technican may look at it. To my utter astonishment, they told me that i will have to purchase a sewrvice manual! Imagine that. i have purchased quite a few Mitsubishi products and because of this poor customer service I do nhotintend to do so anymore. i shall also advise my friende who were planning on purchhasing their TV etc, not to.

I have the exact story. I had a completely trouble free TV that I loved for four years then got the solid "lamp" red light of death. I changed lamps like everyone else and got the same results. Fan starts, sounds like it tries to start then nothing and finally...red light of death again. I called a few experienced TV repairmen and they all have been working on the same Mitsubishi models. The Mitsubishi licensed repairman told me that the problem is very bad. He said that these sets have faulty light engines and all other attempts to find an easy fix will be in vain. He advised to just put this one to sleep and get a new LCD or Plasma now that prices are much lower than when I purchased my DLP. I was quoted a minimum cost to fix this set with a new light engine would be $1000.00. There are plenty of decent LCD's out there now at the same size that can be purchased for just a little more than the repair cost on this old set. Sorry for the bad news!

Press the input/device button and the menu button at the same time. Green LED will blink a two digit code blink 1st digit short pause blink 2nd digit longer pause and repeat. Any number of problems can cause this same symptom.

If the red LED your refering to is the Status LED and not the Lamp LED then you have big problems. A red Status LED indicates no communication from the Format board to the DMD board (light engine). 1/2 the time caps on the format board itself the other 1/2 must send entire electronics package to Mitsubishi.

sounds like the caps on the power board have failed. You can get the V26 DM/Power repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which also contains the instructions.

You have a bad DM Board. You need to replace it. Changing the capacitors will not cure the problem. Completely replace the entire board

Mitsubishi WD-52525, replaced bulb but still not working

SYMPTOM: Power LED does not stop blinking after plug in.
CURE: Check C81A2, C81A3, C81B3 and C81B4 (1000 uFD, 16V, 105C) on the DM PCB.
Check C8F19, C8F21, C8F22 and C8F27 (1000 uFD, 16V, 105C) on the FMT PCB.
If any are bad, replace all of them with part # 181P734030 (680 uFD, 16V, 105C).
this is what we at the shop check first. it is quite common. on the power supply board look for swelled up capacitors
