Canon Microprinter90 would start for 20 seconds, then turn itself off, giving errror E1, from the book " electric supply". Dissembled machine, finally got to the logic board behind the R side cover. Everything looked clean and new, but I resoldered all the socket joints, and when tested the machine stayed on, did not turn itself off. I watched through a magnifying loupe as I resoldered, one joint (Ican't recall which one) appeared to 'break' as I heated it, so that must have been the "dry" one.

Printer displays alarm and indicates there is a paper jam. However, there is no paper jammed. What can be the problem?

Could be dirt blocking a sensor, damaged sensor, or paper pieces where the sensor can pick them up.

The auto paper feeder does not have a paper jam, it will start to take a sheet in, but then it stops, and makes an awful grinding sound

You need to very carefully check entire paper path in the machine - sure that if you do so, you will come across something that is responsible for the condition alluded.

If you don't and the condition persists , then you definitely have a mechanical issue with your printer.

Cannot clear paper jam message on Canon I-Sensys MF4550D printer. Have cleared jam. Have switched off printer, unplugged. Switched off computer. Rebooted both and message still appears. Please help

The last resource is the certified repair centre from Canon. Look for the one in the manual or on the printer.
When the cause is not a paper jam, you won't be able to solve it yourself. Could be a sensor, a cab;e or even the logic board, But impossible to tell you what from a distance. Sorry.

Will not feed 11x17

You probably need to set the user settings to "long doc" mode.

1) When the machine is in the standby state,
press the NEW FILE key and Count Only key
simultaneously. During the user mode, the
LEDs of the NEW FILE key and Count Only
key illuminate and the address (U01-U10)
and data (the last digit) appear on the
counter display.
2) When changing the address, use the NEW
FILE key. Each time NEW FILE is pressed,
the address changes, cycling from U01 to
U10.
3) When changing the data, use the Count Only
key. Each time Count Only is pressed, the
data changes.
4) Pressing the Stop key exits the user mode.

Long document mode =U10; 0=normal and 1=long document mode.

Epson gts50 wont stop scanning until paper jam occurs

I just started having the same issue. However, I don't think the problems was understood. You can one sheet of paper; that's all you need to scan. The scanner will not stop until it has cycled through 8 scans and which point it will then prompt that a e1: Paper Jam has occured. You can hit ok and still safe the document, but it is annoying have to go through the cycles or hit cancel to stop the cycling (at which point you can then still save the scan). I believe Alan and I are both looking for a solution to resolve the issue.

Mine started after a serious paper jam. I am in a rather unique situation as I have to requested elevated priveledges to down load/update any drivers. So personnally I am trying to find a way to work around the issue.

Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. The error message shown as paper jam cleared a) not fully b) not carefully and there is any paper fragment or a whole page remained yet. The sensors are perceive the paper in the paper way, so there are any dirty thing or paper fragment. Read again the user manual, section of paper jam carefully and try to clear out again.

It could be a few different reasons the printer is jamming.
The pickup rollers could be worn; There could be an obstruction in the paper path the fuser could be bad
It all depends really on where the unit is jamming (Ie where you have to take the paper out from)
If the copier starts to work, and then gets an error but no paper travels into the unit the pickup rollers are the likely culprit.
If the paper stops somewhere in the middle of the copier, then an obstruction within the paper path must exist or some other internal failure.
IF the paper jams at or in the fuser then yes the fuser is the problem.
Hopefully this helps and feel free to add another comment with more info or questions :)

ADF paper jam, when there is none

If you are receiving an Error Code 103 or a Paper Jam error, but there are no pages in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), follow the steps below:
  1. Close the scanning application (such as PaperPort)
  2. Turn off the scanner and the computer
  3. If you have a combination ADF with a Flatbed scanner, unplug the ADF cable from the base of the scanner
  4. Plug the ADF cable back in
  5. Turn on the scanner power
  6. Turn on the computer
  7. Try scanning again
For a Paper Jam or Error Code 103, make sure that the ADF cable in the rear is connected to the scanner base. Check the flatbed to make sure that it is clear. A page incorrectly placed on the flatbed may interfere with a page feeding through the ADF.

If your scanner stops scanning due to a paper jam in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), a warning dialog box appears after a few moments.

To clear a paper jam:
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Remove the jammed paper and close the cover.
If you are receiving a paper jam error, or if the scanner is running continuously, check to make sure the paper sensor arm is not stuck down.
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Look for the small black plastic arm
  3. When you press on this arm, it should move freely up and down
  4. If the arm is stuck down, please contact Technical Support for troubleshooting options
  5. Close the ADF cover.

E9 code

E9 code means there is a paper jam.

Clearing Paper Jams
If your scanner stops scanning due to a paper jam in the Automatic
Document Feeder, a warning dialog box opens after a few
moments.
To clear a paper jam:
1. Press the ADF cover release on the top-left of the scanner
body to open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
2. Remove the jammed paper and close the cover.
To reduce the number of paper jams, smooth and straighten the
paper before scanning and adjust the guides to the paper size.

This should help. Please let me know if it does. Thank you, Binary Bob
