Question about GoVideo R6740 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

Won't recognize Sony DVD+R DVD.

When I load in a Sony DVD+R DVD so I can record from my TV, the read out on my R6740 DVD Recorder says "no disc".  Since it doesn't seem to recognize the DVD, I can't record anything.

DVD players need a finilized disk. When the program finilizes the disk, it's writing the TOC which is where the players go to find the files.

try cleaning the disc and reload. i have that problem too. If it's a dvd recorder your disc might have a chip in it which thinks you are trying to copy it . try it on another dvd player without a recorder cability

CAN VIEW THE DVD ON A COMPUTER OR THE DVD RECORDER BUT NOT ON DVDS PLAYERS BOUGHT BEEFORE THE RECORDER

This is quite common of older players. Some only work with DVD+R discs and others with DVD-R discs.
Some player also does not read recordable discs (an early form to try prevent piracy)
Also make sure if recorded on your Recorder, that the disc is finalized before you try to play it on an older player. (See your menu / manual on the recorder for the procedure)

Recording on Samsung VR375

Sony is not a good brand for buying DVD's. One option for you with the sony discs will be to try it in a computer and see whether it reads the disc. Also you can try using formatting using a software program like nero and see whether the samsung can recognize the disc.
Next time buy good quality discs...look up some reviews on the net.

DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder

ekimt,

Yes, it would not recognize any type of disc. The disc icon was always present on the display even though no disc was inserted. Also, mine went out while recording from HDD to DVD. Panasonic had mine repaired in two business days and it' s working great.

Try using a lens cleaning disc (any brand). You'll find them at Wal-Mart in the electronics section, or even in your grocery store, probably near the cameras.
