Replace the mother board.I found this model mother board still available from several different sorces via the internet for as low as $85.If you replace the mother board with the exact same one you hard drive and everything else will still work.

It happens when one of the component would not give the exact dc supply to its component near to each other and its so hard to replace a chips that has been broke down. okay, try this, although its to risky but theirs no other way to test your main board if its still good. if your video card is built in, plug the external video card. if your main board accept AGP or PCI then try them one step at a time. load the memory then try booting it again. if it still has no display bring it to a service center near you ask their assistance to make a series of test to your main board. Im sure they a device to test all the IC's and the chipsets. Good Luck!

I HAVE DISASSEMBLED MY PC TO CLEAR IT OFF FOR DUST IT HAS ON ITS SMPS & MOTHERBOARD. AFTER CLEANING WITH CLOTH & SOME LITTLE AIR BLOW. I ASSEMBLED IT AGAIN AND PUT THE CONNECTIONS AS EARLIER....

I'm no proffessional but when I have this problem I first think what may have caused it. Since your fan starts and then stops the power supply must at least be working. So it may have been something like your static electricity confusing the motherboard or something weird like that. It could also be that you tried to boot it up with some connection with the negative plugged in the positive and visa versa...that shouldn't cause much of a problem but you may want to research your motherboard and make sure it has the safety mechanism.

Anyways, I think the best thing you can do is remove any extra memory ram sticks you have and unplug all USB and the PW SW and all that and even the main power supply and then plug it all back in. Good Luck

Power supply works but pc doesn't power up no lights and fans dont work

Have you checked the power supply in different system? If yes then first replace CMOS battery and switch the CMOS battery jumper. And while doing this please unplug the hard disk or optical drive data cables and power. If it does not work then check the power switch is working or not or it is perfectly connected with the front panel PINS on the motherboard. If it is not connected perfectly computer will not start after pressing power button.
Second Level Test : Remove the CPU Fan - replace the CPU perfectly - again place the Fan.

Third Level (motherboard test): Just take the motherboard removing CPU,RAM, SMPS - use another same type CPU, RAM and SMPS - if it does not work so it is motherboard problem. If it works may be CPU problem.
