Non-working Royal shredder

This Royal shredder being used by my Mom was working for about 6 months and then abruptly stopped running. The motor would not operate correctly and my Mom stopped using it. It is now a year old and just sits there. Can we return to Royal for a replacement? She purchased at menards or Walgreens but no longer has receipt.
Any thoughts?
