SOURCE: incline does not work

ProForm Treadmills have a reset procedure for the incline function. With the key inserted in the console, activate the incline; while the incline is changing, remove the key. Wait 30 seconds, then replace the key. The incline should to maximum, then to minimum, resetting its limits. It worked for mine just 10 minutes ago; the procedure is in the manual if you have it. Good luck!

SOURCE: The incline on my proform treadmill is not working

ICON CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS- INCLINE
1) Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key.
2) Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test.
3) Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
4) THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE IF THIS STEP IS SKIPPED.After completing calibration of incline, press the Stop key and then remove the safety key.

If the incline moves but you it will not operate normally nor calibrate, check the wiring from the incline sensor to the power board. If all looks normal, put it back in calibration and see if you see a blinking “- -” symbol in the incline window when you are calibrating. If not, the incline sensor is bad.

If the incline moves but only just a bit, it could be a problem as simple as the gearbox on the motor being jammed. We remove the motor from the treadmill, reconnect the wiring, and then try to run the incline motor outside the treadmill. Many times, this will unjam it if that is the problem and then reinstalling it in the treadmill will get it to work. If you have the same problem or it doesn’t run outside the machine and you can hear it try to work, you need to replace the incline motor.

If the incline motor does not move, we need to figure out if the motor is getting voltage. Use a simple multi-meter and set it to AC volts. When you put it into calibration, it tries to calibrate the directions one at a time. Measure across the white and black wires first, then measure across the white and red wires second. If the motor is getting voltage you will read 120VAC (or
thereabouts) one one of the measurements. If you have voltage but the motor won't move, you need to replace the motor.
4.
If the incline motor does not move and you have done the voltage test and you do not have any voltage present, there is a problem in the electronics board that supplies the power. If the console is powering the drive motor as normal, you can bet it is getting an incline signal and the power board needs to be replaced (some models have an integrated power board/controller) so if there is only a single board the whole board has to be replaced. It is possible the console is not giving the proper signal but we've never seen it happen in thousands of treadmills.

Open the motor cover. There should be a service sheet in there.
Read Option 2 & try it.

Hi,
Try to do the following hope it will solve the problem.
if its doesn't solve the problem then the the incline motor or the control panel is faulty.
HOW TO USE THE SETTINGS MODE T
he console features a settings mode that allows you to connect your incline trainer to your own wireless network and to log in to your iFit Live account. The settings mode also allows you to turn on and turn off the display demo mode. You may also be able to select the unit of measurement.
Select the settings mode.
Insert the key into the console . Next, select the start menu. Then, press the i button in the lower right corner of the screen to select the settings mode.
Select the maintenance mode.
Press the Maintenance button in the lower right corner of the screen to enter the maintenance mode.
Calibrate the incline system of the incline trainer.
Press the Calibrate Incline button. The incline trainer will automatically rise to the maximum incline level, lower to the minimum incline level and then return to the starting position. This will recalibrate the incline system. Press the Begin button to calibrate the incline system or the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode. When the incline system is calibrated, press the Back button. IMPORTANT: Keep pets, feet, and other objects away from the incline trainer while the incline is calibrating. In an emergency, pull the key from the console to stop the incline calibration.
Restore factory defaults.
If necessary, press the Restore Defaults button to reset the firmware to the original factory firmware. This will erase all firmware updates that you have downloaded. Press the Begin button to restore the default firmware or the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode. When the restoration is complete, the words PLEASE CYCLE POWER will appear in the grey box. Press the power switch into the off position. Wait for several seconds, and then press the power switch into the reset position. It may take a minute for the console to be ready for use.

Proform xp 550e had a problem with incline...plastic guide piece was brittle and broke apart....hubby made a new guide piece... Incline & incline motor now works perfectly provided you hot wire it! ...

Hi There, I think the motor control board, or MCB, has a couple of Triacs (Transistor looking things) bolted together on that unit. The lift motor plugs in near them. If one of these Triacs shorts or is damaged, it will act "Live" at the connector, and drive up or down constantly, pinching and/or damaging the lift. There are a few causes of constant elevation in either direction....
1) Up / Down key stuck
2) Bad logic signal from the console(unusual)
3) Pinched or damaged console cable
4) Shorted Triac or failing MCB

You can contact jatinah electronics for repair at 75 for these units. Good Luck!

Treadmill wont stop inclining

If the recalibrate doesn't work swap the red and black wires on the incline motor and re plug the treadmill to the wall and let go all the way to bottom. Unplug then remove wires from incline motor and tape off. At least then u can still run on it. But incline feature is no longer an option

Treadmill will incline but not stay up. incline # stays after bed lowers

incline Motor is not working it can be a few different things.
1) may not be any signal from the console which could be a damaged cable(tight the flexible cable from keypanel vs display board)
2) Tight the connector from display board vs lower board ( main motor controller board the console itself has failed.
3) The motor control board may have failed from a worn treadmill belt and deck measure 120VAC input for the board
5) the motor may have burnt out Test try to measure 120VAC.
6) potentiometer geared to the motor adjust it so the console knows what height the incline is at.
7) the gearing can slip, giving the console false information which can cause chassis damage.
Now see the block diagaram that I did , for person like you, for to know how the main motor board has aprox 90% of functions of any treadmills. sincerely. Good luck, G-d bless you.

Same exact thing

The incline is trying to calibrate if you let it do it till it is done it should stop. If it continually trys to incline every time you use it there is a incline sensor out of position or the console is bad.
