SOURCE: I forgot my administrator password

safe mode will open windows with minimal amount of drivers, but will still require a password. Safe mode with command prompt will open in a simulated dos mode, and you can type "explorer" at the command prompt to open the gui and get to the start menu. buty this may not help.

i have sucessfully removed administrator password from windows by taking the hard drive out and installing it in another system as a secondary hard drive. i then manually deleted the "sam" file from windows/system32.

you can also reset the password by reinstalling windows or performing a second, parallel, installaation of windows (identical OS) on the same drive, and then deleting the second installation.

You can find it out but you can't read it. If you forgot your windows password you can reset or remove it with window password reset tool. I recommend this site http://www.reset-windows-password.com/how-to-reset-windows-password.html

Which Operating System? Windows XP? If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on andimmediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Modeoption. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When it getsto the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid and the useridfor which you forgot the password. Got a computer from my sister and she forgot the user name and password.. How do i fix that.. Emachine

There are only 2 options to fix this, either re-install a fresh copy windows or you could get a program called password resseter and it will do the trick. There are various programs that will also do the trick but they must be installed on a flash drive.. Let me know if this answers your question and good luck..

Forgot my password need a new password

If you are looking to log into your Windows account and have forgotten the password, my guide may be just what you're looking for: http://www.fixya.com/support/r8577906-reset_forgotten_windows_password If you're looking for a less technical solution, try logging in as the administrator after booting your computer into safe mode.
NB: You can boot in to safe mode by holding F8 at startup

Asking for password before system. Boots

Maybe you forgot the pass or some users put pass on your system or account..You can salvage your old user account by logging on as the "Administrator" user. Once you're logged in as the admin, you can reset your old user password. The Administrator user (by default) is similar to a "superuser" and has the highest access level to reset any user password.
If you don't know what your Administrator password is, you can reset that by rebooting into Safe Mode.
The best option here is to reset your account password. You can do this using either 1 of the 2 methods suggested by Microsoft Knowledge Base article #321305. In my opinion, the second method described on this page is most likely the easiest route: Reboot Windows in Safe Mode. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK: control userpasswords2 Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.
Good luck!
Side note: To access Safe Mode, Click Start -> Shutdown (or Turn Off), and choose 'Restart'. Once the computer restarts, press F8 repeatedly on the keyboard until a Boot Menu appear (this *must* be done before the Windows boot screen appears). Finally, choose to boot Windows in Safe Mode and press Enter on the keyboard.

You can reset a lost or "forgot Windows password" with 4 methods below:
1. Another valid administrator account which can normally log on.
2. A password reset disk or a repair disc, which is created in advance ( before you lost password ).
3. Third-party software to create a bootable password reset CD/DVD or USB, like "Windows Password Breaker".
4. Re-install. Will lose data.
goodluck and hope this helps.pls rate ..thanks

I forgot my adminstrative password for dell dimension 2400 pc (windows xp)

Forgot Windows XP password? The first thing which you check is whether you forgot windows xp login password or not. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account "Administrator" and sets its password to blank. So if you have forgot your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you See Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys Twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".
Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.
Windows XP and further versions also provide another method to recover forgotten Password by using "Reset Disk". If you created a Password Reset Disk in past, you can use that disk to reset the password. Or try free program called Ophcrack or Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0.
