  1. Unplug the Wii AC adapter at both ends (from the back of the Wii system and from the wall outlet or power strip).
  1. The AC adapter must remain unplugged at both ends for a full two minutes.
  1. Unplug anything connected to the USB ports and the Nintendo GameCube Controller ports (such as LAN Adapters, keyboards, Nintendo GameCube controllers, etc.).
  1. Check the AC Adapter for the following:
  • Make sure that the word "Wii" and the model number "RVL-002 (USA)" are molded into the AC adapter. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible and may not work correctly.
  • Check the AC Adapter for physical damage. Physical damage, such as frayed wiring or a cracked housing can cause the system to shut down. If the AC Adapter shows signs of physical damage and needs to be replaced, a replacement can be purchased from Nintendo's online store.
  1. After waiting two minutes, plug the AC adapter into the Wii system and directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector or power strip. If the power light comes on and stays on, then the AC Adapter reset was successful.

SOURCE: Wii does not turn on

If all your cables are good, then I'm afraid it's time to contact Nintendo and ask for a Warranty repair (Assuming you didn't do anything to void it like opening it).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

If my advice was helpful please vote for me!

SOURCE: Power Outage & Now Wii Won't Power Up...

When this same thing happened to me, I unplugged the Wii power supply from the wall (not just from the back of the Wii) and let it sit unplugged for about 10 minutes. When I plugged it back in, everything was fine.

My Wii console won't turn on.

Usually, after a power outage, a power spike (when the power returns) can disable/blow the fuse in the AC adapter for the Wii.

First:
- unplug the Wii's power cord from the wall, and leave it unplugged (from 5 mins. to 5 hours). Then, plug it back into the wall. (Unplugging the power cord from the back of the Wii will not help. You need to unplug the power cord from the wall.)
- This usually helps reset the fuse circuit in the AC adapter, and your Wii should work again.
- THEN, buy a SURGE PROTECTOR power bar, and plug all of your expensive items into it (to prevent this from happening again).

Second:
- open the panel on the AC adapter box in the power cord; since the screws are proprietary, you will need to creatively use existing tools to turn the screws
- check the 3A fuse in that box; if it looks blown, then replace it

Third:
- it might be cheaper to replace the AC adapter with another one

Fourth:
- get the unit repaired

Hope that helps!

Unplug the Wii for at least 5 minutes to force a Wii 'RESET'. Then plug it back in and give it a try.

Wii completely stops working after power outage

I just had the same problem as everyone else. I had a brief power loss and our new Wii system's power would no longer work. To fix the problem, I unplugged everything from our Wii and unplugged the power cord from the outlet. I let the system set for 10 minutes and re-plugged the power only. That did the trick. Then I was able to plug everything back up and we are now back to playing.

Supposedly, doing the steps above resets the Wii according to the Nintendo online trouble shooting guide.

Loose power

We have the same problem. This is actually our second system. Our first system started overheating 3 months old...Nintendo replaced with no problem. Our current system is 17 months old and is doing the same thing. I again contacted Nintendo (2x) and they informed me I was out of warranty BUT they would send in for FREE REPAIR, since I had this issue for the second time, and I told them I was not happy. It takes a bit of persistence with the automated phone system but if you keep trying you will get the prompt. Nintendo 1-800-255-3700
