i have a laptop , and it suddenly stopped working,i mean when i on it, i can only see a black screen with the letters. thats all it doesnt even load the bios, what can i do?

I have the same problem with my hp,,won't power up to windows xp. Just shows the dark screen and dos writing. Did you ever fix yours?

My laptop will turn on and then the screen goes black but I can faintly see what should be showing in the background. If I click Fn, F6 it will turn back on for a few seconds....only to turn black again???

compuetr, able to get into when press F8 button ,but none of the options i select work? my cd-rom- set up , dont work either. it shows error file missing or corrupt. \windows\system32\config\system.

I am happy to finally found questions, which are near the same than mine.
I think I have got the same problem as mttchelle posted on June 01, 2008:
"i got problem on my laptop! when i turn on the power botton theres a light on! and suddenly stoped working and i heard some 3 times beep! please help me as soon as possible thank you! "
If I turn my laptop (Acer Aspire 9302 WSMi) on it seems to work properly, I mean the sounds of ventilation etc., the light signs a.s.o.. But I can also hear after approx. 5-10 seconds a longer beep and two shorter beeps and the screen stays black.
- I tried out with restarting (Shut down with power button).
- I also did same with waiting a while between the start ups.
- I also did with lithium-Ion-battery taken out.
- I tried several Fn+* button-combination, which could shut down the screen.
I hope someone can give more advices, I will try what duke proposed (again).
I hope my English is not too bad,

Try removing the RTC battery (real time clock) and hopefully (for you) this is what is also keeping the CMOS memory. So, take theat out, wait about 15 minutes, put it back in, reboot and tell us your resutls.

WizTry to do a powercycle first - take the AC and battery out of the computer, and external devices connected to it. Once you see the Toshiba logo, hit F8 to try to boot up to Windows. If unsuccessful, try loading the OS using the recovery media. If all fails, repair is the last option.

okey,Ranny, you'd better work with your AC/DC adapter connecting to your laptop,for most battery such as toshiba pa3383u-1brs,has the common phenomenon of power suddenly shut down,that is because the PCM panel of the battery bumping of disorder electric current.lead by high temperatur etc.so work with your laptop adapter as much as possible.

Mastertry and reset the bios check user guide for your specific model.on how to do this.or you can take the rtc battery out,then wait at least 60 seconds.most of these batteries are soldered on,so be careful! this usually works unless there is damage to mainboard.good day people!

lastnight, There is a game my son was playing and it froze.
I was trying to get the volume down but it wont do anything.
So I have to unplugged the laptop.
Now it has blue screen

For many notebooks (including the Gateway 4024GZ, like mine), the LCD backlight can go out. This is commonly caused by an internal component--the inverter--faulting out.
If your notebook's lighting comes on (power light, hard drive indicators flashing as if the system is booting), then this is likely the case. You can find inverters online, but you must buy the exact type specific to your laptop. Your best bet is to use a search engine to determine the part number that you need (search for [your make & model] "inverter").
Depending on your system, these parts can be a little expensive, and they're not the easiest thing to install--but it can be done.

You can also try unplugging the AC adapter and removing the battery then holding down the On/Off switch for 3minutes.
If you do end up removing the CMOS battery as suggested by "Duke" you wil most likely have to remove the keyboard. Check HP's site for the Hardware and software PDF's for your system.

I had a similar problem, my laptop wont start I get a black screen and it does not even go to bios, battery charges up ok,
removed the battery as suggested by duke, and this worked, but on the second day the same situation arises, what is up, can u help further with trouble shooting, post and send me a copy to kombo@ims.udsm.ac.tz

Asus A9RP Laptop suddenly will not power up.
Tested...Power adapter ok. Battery ok. Some power on mobo.

I downloaded a program (valid website) and a few minutes later my computer froze. I had to turn it off (with the button) and it never came back on. It starts to the point of the NASCAR logo, then it goes black and then a lot of white letters. I should be allowed to install programs on my computer. It's only a year old. How can I get it working again?

If i turn on my MP-XP the led´s of the keyboard starts blinking and the hdd spin up and the fan of the cpu spins time to time short. nothing else. CMOS battery is replaced and bios is reseted. whats up with my notebook what could i do ? if i remove the hdd ,nothing. if i remove the additional ram NOTHING. what could i do. I LOVE THIS NOTEBOOK. pls help me thanks

I dropped my laptop and it worked after that but then wouldn't boot up after being turned off. Now it gets stuck when it starts loading at the manufacturers screen beeps and tries again. I can get in to bios but but no further than that.

my HP Pavilion zd8000 stopped working. I am able to run windows but that is all it does. After windows starts it somehow blocks and some of the programs like zone alarm don't even run.
It allowed me to backup some of my smaller files. Anything bigger then 5MBs cannot be copied to an external drive.
i tryed to install avg's spyware but it is runing so slowly that i doubt it will do anything to solve the problem.

hi i have IBM T22 and constantly freezes that i have to turn it off then turn it back on .
i have windows xp it runs good for 1 hour on ac power then it freezes or the screen goes black. this was 1 month ago!
now it loads windows stays on for 2 min and either freezes or the screen goes black .
i thought maybe its the windows so i did a clean fresh restore but it freezes when trying to install windows. i did install 2x256MB RAM 5 months ago
i sold my old ram 2x128MB on EBAY.could the problem be the ram.
i also installed the latest BIOS and i got a new battery and charges very good can you help me ?
