Fridge/Freezer will not cool

4 year old Whirlpool mod # ED5VHGXMB10 stopped cooling and freezing. Is this what we should expect from todays appliances? I looked at compressor thinking I might be able to recharge the R134 cooled compressor but found no ports to do so. I can rebuild an automobile so I don't want a staionary appliance to beat me. Please help.

The bottom refrigerator will not cool at all. I also noticed a lot of ice formation around the top freezer. Could it be that the hole where the cool air is being fed through is clogged with ice?

Especially along the vent that seem to provide the cold air for the top.

Additionally the ice maker will not dispense ice either. My model is the
    ET8GTMXKQOO.

Whirlpool et1chmxkq03 quit making ice, freezer still cool but not freezing. fridge not cooling rite. water not coming into ice maker.

1st = try to determine why freezer is not freezing.
fridge is cooled from freezer.
water may not be flowing because freezer is not cold enough to make ice.

Verify freezer door is closing and seals are sealing. If you slam the fridge door closed and the freezer door moves there is a problem.

FRS26R4CB0-Freezer not freezing and Fridge not getting Cool

Hi Candi,

I don't know this model but most friges are the same,
Check on the bottom back, there should be a radiator with a small fan
installed.

If the fan is not working this maybe your problem,
It is not colling the gas.

You also may have a gas leak or the gas compressor is not working
or starting to work because of a faulty capcacitor.

Fridge portion doesn't get cold

The defrost circuit is not working, there are usually 3 things that normally go bad, defrost timer, defrost heater, and thermal switch. Would have serviceman check it out as cooling fins on coils will cut you like a razor.

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling after storm

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

Whirlpool Mod ET18LKXHWo o Fridge not freezing,

Your defrost timer located inside the control panel is bad OR the defrost thermostat located on a freezer coil is bad.
Get down low and look up at the bottom of the control panel.
You will see a small round hole. Onside the hole is the defrost timer advance knob.
Use a flat blade screwdriver and SLOWLY turh the slotted knod clockwise until the refrigerator clicks off.
Wait a few minutes then open the freezer door and listen for a sizzling sound from the freezer compartment.
If you do hear a sizzling sound that would be the defrost heater melting ice.
If you do not hear a sizzling sound, unplug the refrigerator and remove the rear freezer panel to expose the cooling coil.
Clipped to the coil will be the defrost thermostat. It will need replacing.
If you do hear the sizzling sound the defrost timer will need replacing.

Fridge and Freezer losing cooling

we bought a f&p fridge freezer and in summer noticed it wasn't cooling and the freezer wasn't freezing, when the service guy came out he noticed our ducted air con was blowing onto the fridge, once we had redirected the air con outlet the fridge started working as normal, apparently f&p's work on air being convected around the cabinet of the fridge and air blowing on the fridge can effect the temperature of the convected air. hope this helps you or someone
