Question about Acer PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have an Acer Travelmate c110tci, purchased in 2003. The wireless connection was working properly before I re-formatted the hard drive. After reformat the hard drive, the wireless connection is working in my office by pressing the internet connection button. However, when I brought the computer home to use it with my home's wireless connection, it does not work. Would anyone kindly advise me what went wrong. Thanks

Enable wireless capability

Certain models of Acer desktop computers are designed with wireless capabilities.
These capabilities can be added to an Acer desktop system that does not connect wirelessly with either an internal or external wireless card, depending on the computer's configuration.
When the wireless connection is not working properly, you can troubleshoot the issue yourself.
The troubleshooting process eliminates the problems that may be preventing the Acer desktop computer from connecting wirelessly.

Check to see if any other computers at the same location are able to connect wirelessly.
The issue may reside with the wireless router or access point.
Power cycling the router or access point may resolve this issue.
Verify that the wireless adapter is enabled.
Click the "Start" button, then "Control Panel."
Click "Network and Sharing Center," then "Change Adapter Settings."
If the wireless adapter is disabled, right-click on it and select "Enable."
Connect to the proper wireless network.
The Acer may be attempting to the connect to the wrong wireless network, or it may have lost its connection to the correct network.
Click the wireless network icon in the task bar.
Click the proper wireless network, then click "Connect."
Enter the network password (or WEP key) if prompted.

I have a 2003 Dell Dimension 4600 and the network adapter is testing fine. However I am unable to access broadband internet and email through a wired USB/Ethernet connection to external modem. Both the...

the hard wired connection to the modem could be a system configuration issue, the cable has gone bad, or the modem is having connectivity issues with the service.
if your optical drives are not working physically, then you can't really fix that. if they just arent responding properly or Windows cant detect that they are there, then you may need to reinstall the driver software for the drives. which can be found on the Dell website or the manufacturer of the optical drives.
yes you can set up a wireless connection with a USB adapter but the modem also needs to have wireless capability in order for you to create the connection.
there are external USB optical drives available. so you can purchase a usb connected CD/DVD drive or burner. they shouldnt be very expensive nowadays.

I have acer travelmate 2355nxc with 40 gb hdd. want to know how to increase its speed and capacity.

Hi, how are you?

To upgrade your laptop, you will have to verify the capacity for upgrade of your laptop.

The Acer Travelmate comes with:

  • Intel Celeron-M 360 Processor 1.4GHz
  • 256MB DDR SDRAM -
  • 40GB Hard Drive
  • DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive - To read DVDs and CDs and write CDs
  • 15" XGA TFT Screen
  • Intel 852GM 64MB shared graphics
  • Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition

  • Based on this information, you can upgrade your memory depending on what type of memory your motherboard supports and how many empty slots for memory does your laptop have.

The hard drive can be upgraded also depending on which hard drives does the BIOS will recognize.

I will suggest to contact ACER and ask for the options and upgrades capacity.

    God Bless You!!!

    Hope it helps.

I have recently purchased ACER AMD desktop & now I M facing problem like when I am installing windows 7 cd it reflects like hard disk not found

There is possibly either a non initialised drive in the bay, the drive is not set as master and other problems.
Does the BIOS see the drive and does it know what its size is?
If it does, then the PC will load the required drivers and OS to format the hard drive and place a system on it.
    Try again

    Hello,

The sequence you plug in the hard drive shouldn't matter. I would click Start -> Run and type:

    eventvwr

Click okay. When the Event Viewer loads, click Application. Do you see any errors associated with the times you plug in the drive? Also, check the System events and look for the same thing.

If I were you, I would replace the cable connecting the computer to the external drive. If that doesn't work, I would get another external enclosure and transfer your drive to it.

this is done by a special CD the company gives you.. its called a restoring CD.. you can ask acer to see if they can give you one...

anyways. here is the link for you PC drivers and stuff http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/aspire_l100.html if you need them in the future..

for less hassle, i recommend you format and reinstall your OS and use the drivers from the link to reinstall everything and have it like new.. also, don't go for the fast format, its safer if you make a deep format of your hard drive, even if it harms a little your hard drive.. but that only tends to happen if you do it A LOT!...
by the way, don't forget to make backup
