i was trying to plug the power pack into my laptop last night but because it was dark i missed the power hole and it knocked the usb port and it switched itself off and started smoking, i left it over night and now it turns on but when it gets to the windows log in screen it stays black and a blue screen appears with white writing but i dont have chance to read it because it only appears for a second. it works fine in safe mode.
-   i turn on my computer and then a black screen comes i click start windows normally then a blue screen comes up

-   I was attempting to plug in the power pack with the plug in the wall socket and must have grounded it out against the chassis or one of the other plug outlets as it now only clicks. No power when the power button is pushed in.-   Guest

anyone know what the problem could be? drivers are not loaded in safe mode so the problem is which driver it is. try an external monitor or do a repair option when reloading xp ontop of self
but a faulse advertising and sell it on ebay say its in a good condition and then go and buy your self a good HP cause ACER sucks

I have bought a new Acer Aspire 5810TZ with a DVD Super Multi double layer drive. I'm probably being a bit dim but there is no manual with the computer as to how to use it and I really cannot fathom it out. I would appreciate an explanation/assistance. Thanks.

Hi Everyone, Am facing a strange problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 1000, 2.2Ghz Celeron processor, 256MB RAM, 80GB HDD. In the BIOS setting there is a setting for Display, which is set to XGA 14.1". This setting automatically changes to 'Unknown' & the screen does not display anything when you 'ON' the laptop. The boot up screen too is not displayed. However the laptop boots fine into Windows XP ( this is observed when you connect an External monitor to the laptop's VGA port. I have also observed that if the value in the BIOS is 'XGA 14.1" ' then only the laptop recognises the display. I have tried changing the CMOS battery , but with no results. I also tried to set the BIOS settings to 'Factory default' settings, still of no use. If at all I managed to open the BIOS settings ( whenever the display is visible), the 'Display' setting keeps on fluctuating intermittently. Also, cannot change the values manually. Kindly help. Thanks for attention.
