Hit f2 and see if you can get to the bios. It may be the screen, they are known to have bad ones.

Lenovo y430 computer turns on it goes to Lenovo page goes to resuming Windows then goes black

Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Press the ON/OFF button (to drain any residual voltage).
Re-insert the battery.
Reconnect the AC power.
Turn it on.
Instead of "resuming Windows", it should show the normal Windows startup.

I left my PC and monitor powered on and when I came back, no display.

seems simple enough, go into your computer power settings through control panel and turn off standby mode as well as hibernation. set it to be on all the time. if you're using the syncmaster i assume you're talking about a desktop computer and not a laptop, if that's the case and the syncmaster is lcd, then you don't really 'need' a screensaver but if you want it to hide your desktop while you're not there you can add a screensaver for fun :P

My daughters c300 gets smart failture predicted says f1 screen goes blank please help

Hmm, I hope for you that my hunch turns out to be wrong. That S.M.A.R.T failure is related to the laptop's hard disk drive. And the failure is not just predicted to happen soon; it sounds like it is happening. Something is wrong with the hard drive, and that something is unlikely to go away.
When this appears, you should press the F1 key and hope Windows starts. If it does, do something ASAP to save any important documents your daughter might have on the computer. You might take it to a neighbor, friend, relative, or shop you trust and have them transfer those documents to, say, a USB key for temporary safekeeping. Then it's time to replace the hard drive inside with a new one (no, they're not extremely expensive), re-install Windows and other programs, and then transfer the documents back onto the PC.
If the laptop just stops working after pressing F1, it's perhaps too late. A more experienced PC technician can see if he/she can save those aforementioned documents or data from the misbehaving drive. Or if you daughter says, "Nah, there was nothing on there I need to recover," then you can skip straight to replacing the hard drive (and reinstalling everything).

Good luck!

Can you please tell me how to turn off the narator on my daughters viao laptop please

Hi w_daly01,

Please try the below steps to turn OFF the Narrator.

First clik the Start button, then Control Panel. Now, in the Control Panel window, click Ease of Access. In the Ease of Access window, click Ease of Access Center, then in the Ease of Access Center window, under Explore all settings , click Use the computer without a display. Then, in the Use the computer without a display window, click to remove the check mark to the left of "Turn on Narrator". Then click the "Save" button. After that, restart the Computer. The Narrator will be turned OFF automatically when the Computer restarts.

Hope this helps.

Please post back if you require further assistance.

Good luck.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Dell inspiron 1525 when starting it says resuming windows then goes to hibernating with a little blue curser going around

Turn the computer off, remove the battery, make sure it is not plugged in to power, and hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Wait about a minute before re-installing the battery. If it does it again, hold F10 while the computer is turning on, this should bring you to the "boot select" menu, use the arrows on the keyboard and select "start windows normally" instead of "resume windows". When you get it started up run "Defrag" to prevent this from happening again.
When windows hibernates it saves everything in the ram to a "swap file" on the hard disc. Sometimes hard disc's get "bad sectors", this is considered wear and tear, it happens eventually to all drives. It sounds like there is a bad sector on your disc where the swap file is stored, so you have to start windows without using that part of the disc, then by running defrag the computer will find the bad sector and remember not to use it anymore.
Have a nice day.

Do not start up, black screen

Hello,

I'll asume something for this one it might help. Make sure your laptop is completely turned off [No fans turn, screen black, no hard drive light]. When you then press the power button, immediately keep pressing the F8 button on your keyboard. It should then actually display two options after a while :

*Delete restore/resume point and start windows
*Resume restore/resume point

Select 'Delete restore point' and the unit should boot up fine again.

I had a unit that was basically turbo-booting into windows, but the restore point was corrupt and it always seemed it had a 'blank screen' problem.

You can also try to access the BIOS by pressing F2 as soon as the unit starts up to see if you can actually access the BIOS.

If that all doesn't help I suggest reseating RAM.

Unfortunately, it sounds like your hard drive has crashed. You'll have to change your hard drive or take it to someone who can replace it for you. If you have a bunch of preinstalled software but don't have the disks to reinstall them it might be cheaper to replace the computer.
