Yes - if you start your computer, it connects to the printer. If the printer was in stand-by mode (saving energy), this "wakes him up".

Tip

How to "Reset" your printer.

So your printer is stuck, it will not work, it won't print. Well try a "Reset" it may, just sort your problems out. Here is what to do. Unplug the power cable from the BACK of the printer, Next, Remove the USB cable from the Computer. Reboot the PC, when at the desktop next, Reconnect the Power, and plug in the USB cable, wait a bit, Reboot again, next time, at desktop... you should be all good. Now often the printer has "Jobs" in the "Que" these must be canceled, double clicking on the Printer Icon will bring up the printers "Que" window. Now you right click on the "Print Job" in the window,and select "Cancel" Now sometimes, you cannot do this, as it simply refuses to "go away" in this case, you MUST reconnect up the printer, to that PC, turn it ON, & then you should be able to "Cancel" that print job, often you will see many copies of things to "Print" these ALL must be "Canceled" If that doesn't work, Delete the Printer, Right Click, select "Delete". Now Reboot, and then, either, set up the printer, directly attached, or set it up as a "Networked printer". Then this will have cleared anything that was causing problem and you are back to a fresh new printer. ver faced problems with resetting your printer? Well, here we provide you invaluable tips to help you troubleshoot your HP, Dell, Lexmark, Brother or Samsung Printers in easy steps.
Resetting an HP laser printer
There is a technique known as cold resetting. It basically will set all your HP printer settings to the factory default levels. It is important to note that any settings made at the control panel of your printer are going to be reset. Hence, in case you happen to have a JetDirect card then even the IP address will be reset to the factory defaults. Make sure to remove the card before resetting your HP printer. You can try to reset NVRAM. To do this, switch off your HP printer and then hold down the ‘Go’ key for around 20 seconds while switching the printer back on again.
- HP 1200 and 1100 models resetting: To do this, simply change the data by going into the service mode. This is applicable if your HP printer has a display panel. Otherwise you need to hold down the ‘Go’ button for around 5 seconds while the printer is switched on.
- HP 2100 printer resetting: You need to press the ‘job cancel’ key after switching off the printer. Then switch the printer on and only then release the key called ‘job cancel.’ Make sure you release the button within 20 seconds of the LEDs coming on.
- HP 2200 printer resetting: Switch off your printer and then hold down the ‘Go’ key. Switch back the printer on while holding the ‘Go’ button till the light comes on. Then release the button.
- HP 6P and 5P models resetting: Switch off your printer and then press the ‘reset’ button and within 20 seconds switch on the printer back again.
Resetting a Dell printer
You can reset your Dell printer fairly easily by simply double-clicking on the ‘Reset Dell Printer’ icon. You can reach this icon by clicking on the folder ‘UAN’, then clicking on ‘System Utilities’ and you should find the icon. However, one word of caution – this method will function only if the USB cable has been directly connected from the PC to the printer. If you are using a USB Hub or some switch box then this method will not work.
Resetting a Lexmark printer
You will firstly need to switch off your printer. Then simultaneously press the RETURN and READY keys while switching the printer on. This will take you to the Diagnostics Mode. The display unit will show the message ‘Performing self test’. Choose ‘Maintenance count’. Reset the count to make it zero. Then select the RETURN key and go back Diagnostics Mode. Then you can reset the printer to go back to the normal mode.
Resetting Brother Printer
You need to keep pressing the DOWN or UP keys a couple of times till you see ‘Maintenance 99’ displayed on the display. Then hold down the ‘Set’ button to go to standby mode. Please note that if you press the exit key only after typing in a single digit then the machine goes to maintenance mode in initial stages. If you have entered an invalid code by mistake then too the machine goes to maintenance mode in initial stages.
Resetting Samsung printer
You need to press the following keys in quick succession – MENU # 1 9 3 4. Then you should see a message on your display saying ‘TECH.’ Then again select the MENU key followed by ENTER. The display will now show ‘TECH MODE.’ Then select the ‘<’ key two times. Your operator panel should show ‘NEW PRINTER CARTRIDGE’. Then select ENTER. Now the panel will show [YES]. Select ENTER key again. You can exit from this mode by pressing MENU # 1 9 3 4 again one after another.

My epson tx700 printer dispaly ink pad at end of life and printer not start

A fix from a forum:

Procedure 1 We found this procedure to work for the Stylus Photo 1270 type printer, and understand that it also works for the 870 range and even earlier models like the Stylus Color 740. The error is indicated on these printers by all four lights on the printer flashing. Even if you press the power switch on the printer, the lights continue to flash, and the printer does not turn off!
  1. Turn off your printer, ensuring that the print head is at it's home location and locked in place as normal;
  2. Power off the printer at the wall or by removing the power cable, for at least 20 seconds;
  3. When you restore power to the printer at the wall socket or by reinserting the cable, if the lights come back on straight away, the printer's power switch was 'on' - switch it off and return to step 1;
  4. Hold down the paper-feed button and the button with the ink-drops next to it, and then turn on the printer, still holding the buttons down;
  5. When the paper-out LED flashes, release the buttons;
  6. Press and hold the Cleaning button, until several lights flash - this will take a few seconds (i.e. then release the button);
  7. The printer will now attempt to reset, including resetting the EEPROM memory and running a short (about 10 seconds) cleaning cycle.
Procedure 2
  1. Turn off your printer, ensuring that the print head is at it's home location and locked in place as normal;
  2. Hold down the paper feed button only;
  3. Turn on the printer;
  4. As the paper feed light starts flashing, release the button;
  5. Immediately hold down the ink-drops button for some 10-20 seconds or until the printer springs into life;
  6. Allow printer to complete it's processing, then turn off for a few seconds, and back on again for a newly working printer!
Procedure 3 - for 1290 and possibly 890 printers 1290 printer with green (power / data) and red (ink / paper feed) lights flashing alternately:
  1. Switch off printer with panel switch;
  2. Switch off printer at mains switch - leave off for 20+ seconds;
  3. Hold down roll feed and sheet feed buttons;
  4. Switch on at mains;
  5. Switch on at printer panel;
  6. Continue to hold down roll and sheet feed buttons until both green and red lights flash together in synchronisation, not alternately;
  7. Switch printer off and then, after a few seconds, on again at mains switch;
  8. When red and green lights are both flashing in synchronisation, release the roll and sheet feed buttons;
  9. Press and hold down the ROLL FEED button (the one at the extreme left) and keep it down until the machine finishes whirring, cleaning etc and the green light comes on steady;
  10. Release the roll feed button and all should be well.

for drivers go to http://www.usa.canon.com
you will find every driver for free download
after you have made this upload add printer but unziping each file and setting it on your system
under all Programs you will see new programs associated with your downloaded files Next, add Printer from "Start" add printer menu it will auto upload W8400 Printer.
make sure yout canon is "ON" and pluged to your "PC"
after this has uploaded you will see from the programs now downloaded one program called imagePROGRAPH firmware update too, click on the icon close all programs less this page and the program itself click OK and it will search for target printer, if the unit is conected it should show data of the W8400 Canon Printer including firmware, if the firmware reads 2.15 and the year you are in is 2011, then you are uptodate for now, if it reads a smaller number then do the next step, which is goto you printer and switch it off, then press (OK + stop/eject + information) do not let go of the bottons and switch unit ON.
do not let go untill you see GREEN online light come on

you now will see on the screen DOWNLOAD MODE send firmware. walk back to your PC and in the above menu you will see "file - view - printer - firmware - help" click on firmware and send the file.
Make yourself a coffee, by the time you drank it the screen should say load finished and switch off
do that and re start normaly the firmware should have updated. and 2.03 now read 2.15 any other number above this and you may have the wrong frimware.
If the unit still reads Printhead Error, and you see the ink is running okay, not block then it may be something wrong with the heads but if it is blocked place in hot water and you will see the ink flow
dry with paper towel by preding not sliding if you have print head problems still, check circuit conection if there is power comming to the head,

The printed pages come only from behind ......

There is probably a change-over swithc/wheel which either allows you to eject hard paper or board out of the back of the machine thereby avoiding folding it along the normal paper path. Flip this switch the other way and the paper should then follow the normal path. The switch is probably located next to or near the slot where the paper is coming out now.

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.

Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage. Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head. Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now
If that does not work then follow the next step.

Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply.

My yellow color is not printing. I change cartridge twice, run a few times cleaning process, but no even a dot of yellow color on the paper. What should I do?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. There are two step-by-step procedures to resolve the issue—

Procedure 1

  1. Turn off the printer and ensure that the print head is at its home location and locked in place as normal;
  2. Power off the printer at the wall or by removing the power cable for at least 20 seconds;
  3. While you restore power to the printer at the wall socket or by reinserting the cable, if the lights come back on straight away, the printer’s power switch was ‘on’ - switch it off and return to step 1;
  4. Hold down the paper-feed button and the button with the ink-drops next to it, and then turn on the printer, still holding the buttons down;
  5. When the paper-out LED flashes, release the buttons;
  6. Press and hold the Cleaning button, until several lights flash - this will take a few seconds then release the button;
  7. The printer will now attempt to reset, including resetting the EEPROM memory and running a short (about 10 seconds) cleaning cycle.

Procedure 2

  1. Turn off the printer and ensure that the print head is at it’s home location and locked in place as normal;
  2. Hold down the paper feed button only;
  3. Turn on the printer;
  4. As the paper feed light starts flashing, release the button;
  5. Immediately hold down the ink-drops button for some 10-20 seconds or until the printer springs into life;
  6. Allow printer to complete its processing then turn it off for a few seconds and turn it again on.

By following any of the above step-by-step procedure, the printer will start printing normally.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Try shutting down your PC and printer. Next,unplug PC from wall outlet. Next, unplug printer USB cable from the PC, then unplug the USB cable from the printer. Unplug the printer from the wall outlet. Wait 30 seconds. Next, plug PC back into outlet, turn it on, and wait until it has completely initialized and is ready to use. Next, plug in the USB cable from the printer to the PC, and turn on the printer. Windows should automatically detect the printer, and will proceed to install it. After the PC finishes the install, test the printer in all modes, including self-cleaning, to see if the problem is eliminated.

Epson 760 Problem

I found this procedure to work for the Epson Stylus 760 printer. The error is indicated by all four lights on the printer flashing and appears to be caused by the internal counters of the machine being exceeded. Even if you press the power switch on the printer, the lights continue to flash, and the printer does not turn off!

1) Turn off your printer, ensuring that the print head is at its home location and locked in place as normal.
2) Remove the four screws securing the top cover two at the rear and two at the front under the lift up cover and lift the cover off.
3) Remove both ink cartridges.
4) When you restore power to the printer at the wall socket or by reinserting the cable, if the lights come back on straight away, the printer’s power switch was ‘on’ - switch it off and return to step 1.
5) Hold down the paper-feed button and the button with the ink-drops next to it, and then turn on the printer, still holding the buttons down.
6) When the paper-out LED flashes, release the buttons.
7) Press and hold the Cleaning button, until several lights flash - this will take a few seconds (i.e. then release the button).
8) The printer will now attempt to reset, including resetting the EEPROM memory and running a short (about 10 seconds) cleaning cycle.
9) Insert the cartridges as normal and replace the cover.
