How do I connect my ps3 to the internet and tv so as to view the net on tv?

It's a semi-long process. Do you have a wireless router hooked up to your computer? If so just go to settings then network settings in your ps3 menu. If you have the wireless router then put wireless connection and its straight forward from there. If it is a wired connection and hooked to your ps3 than put wired connection and again its straight forward from there.

Get stuck changing net settings, ie ssid...

if your home is set up with wireless modem or router and your computers are connected wirelessly its pretty simple to set up. more likely you or someone who set it up probably set it up securely meaning with security key and password. So you do have to know few things about your home network. like what is the name of your home network (SSID). the security setting of your home network. and finally the password of your network. if you don't know these things about your home network you will not be able to get connected wirelessly. but if you do have these info on hand read along....

JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO HAVE A WIRELESS HOME NETWORK... it definitely wont work if you don't have a wireless setup and u are trying to connect wirelessly. people overlook this no brainer.

1) go to Settings
2) Network Settings
3) Internet Connection Setting. confirm on "O.K."
4) easy *it may or may not give you a message reading "checking network configuration2_bing.gif"
5) wireless

from this point on you need to know few things about your network.....

6) scan -- once scanned it'll give you other wirelss access point for you home network and some other near your home along with few information such as SSID (which is what you set your network to be -- i.e. "the jones" or "linksys" or "summer home" or "my connection" etc etc) SECURITY (this is the password you set up your network with) SIGNAL STRENGHT (usually your network will be the strongest among your neighbors since you are closer to your router)
7) highlight your network and press x . (you should know what it is) selecting on the other network will probably not do you any good since it'll probably be all locked with password and such and so should yours be.
8) SSID which means service set identifier basically mean the name of your network. if your home network is set up with security and password your home network will not show up under SSID (this is one of the things you need to know about your home network. if you don't know ask the person who set up your home network)
9) on WLAN SECURITY SETTING2_bing.gif page (this is another thing you should know about your home network or ask the person who set it up) -- most people i deal with have a WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK security password yours may be different so choose the one that you used.
10) WPA KEY - which basically means password. input the password you used to set up your home network (this is another thing you should know about your home network or ask the person who set it up)
**it'll give you "checking network configuration"
11) if you input all the correct info you should get the "setting list" screen
12) press "X" to save the setting
13) do the connection test and if all things were entered correctly you should have success.

all this seems complicated just reading but if you follow it step by step its easy. you just need to know the name of your home network, the home network security setting, and the password of your home network.

on the other hand if you are setting up a wired connection it makes it a whole lot simpler. you don't need to know your network name, security key, and password.

make sure you have the ethernet cable plugged in to your ps3 and to your modem or router

1) go to Settings
2) Network Settings
3) Internet Connection Setting. confirm on "O.K."
4) easy *it may or may not give you a message reading "checking network configuration2_bing.gif"
5) wired
6) auto-detect
7) automatic -- for the IP address setting
8) do not set
8) automatic -- DNS setting
9) automatic -- MTU
10) do not set -- PROXY SERVER
11) ENABLE -- UPNP
save connection setting
test connection

if your home network is set up and u got the ps3 connected it should work

Cant get online with ps3 since ive purchased a new NETGEAR dg834

Hi, please perform the steps below to configure settings on the router:

Please follow the steps on a computer connected to the router so as to check the network key:
1. Open the browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
2. Access the router usually by typing 'http://192.168.1.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on Wireless Settings (under Setup) from the left menu.
5. Check if WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) or WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) is selected under 'Security Options'.
6. If WPA-PSK is selected, copy the code entered in the passphrase.
7. If WEP is selected, copy the code entered in the key that has been checked.
This is the code required for connecting the wireless computer to the router's wireless network.

In some cases, for security reasons the passphrase might show as asterisks. In this case type a new Password and click apply. You will then have to use the same Password for all the wireless devices connecting to the network.
Please scan for the wireless network on the PS3 and connect to the wireless network.

Let me know if you need any fruther help.

Cant find out how to get my ps3 with internet

if you have wireless you can hook it up that way.
if you have wired or DSL network you can hook it up that way too.
in addition you need a playstation network user account.

to hook up your ps3 to the net go to settings, network connection and choose custom network connection then it will show you wireless or wired then choose whatever you have. then just go through and dont change any settings until it runs the connection test then it should work

REMEMBER TO GET PLAYSTATION NETWORK ACCOUNT IN THE PLAYSTATION STORE AFTER YOU SET IT UP!!!!!

I want to get internet on my PS3

you must do some easy steps as following
you need to Connect your wireless routermag-glass_10x10.gif toyour modem.
You can do this by refering to your routers manual,or just connect them if you know what to do. Step2Once you have connected your router, turn it on,and check that itsrunning ok.Once you have checked that, hop on to your PS3. Step3 On the playstation,Head to settings -> network -> connection settings.

Then, select wireless connection and follow along with the set up.
If your router is not on Unsecured,i surgest you set up manualy then automatic. Step4 Once you have finished,Your playstation will say/tell you that the ip and internet connectionmag-glass_10x10.gif are ready. Step5 (WIRED CONNECTION).

For a wired connection, you will need a ethernet cable which you can pick up for $10 at your nearest electronic store. Step6 Connect the wire into the back of your modem, and the other end into your ps3. Step7Goto settings -> network -> connection settings and then selectwired connection.Follow the setup.(automatic is best for this setup) Step8 ONCE that is all done,Your ready to use the net on your ps3

Please rate if helpfully! :)

Ps3 network issue

First, wire your ps3 directly to the modem, cycle (reset) everything then try the normal connection procedures. You should only have the console, and the modem in the equation for testing purposes, this will let you narrow down the problem. You must turn everything off so that all of the information on both ends will auto refresh.

Wired connection or wireless? If you are using wireless, try switching to wired temporarily and see if the PS3 stays connected.
