Research the Breeze Litter System by Tidy Cat. It keeps the poo and urine separate which seems to reduce the overall odor, except right after the cat has pooed, which is my cue to go clean it out. It only takes a second now to do that. It uses special pads to catch the urine and keep it from smelling. BTW, Wag.com has a great deal on the Urine pads for the Breeze system, way lower than on Amazon or any other website I have found. If your order is $49 or more you get free shipping. This code will get you 20% off your first order: CLUT9394
Hope this helps. :)

It all comes down to your cat to make the final choice. Once you find a brand that your cat likes, stick with it. It may take some time searching for the right exact brand that suit your cat but it is totally worth it.

Keeping your cats litter box smelling fresh

If your cats litter box is not cleaned every day, or the litter is not changed frequently, the odor will build up. Here are some tips that will help you keep litter box odor at a minimum:

ā€¢ Never put your cats litter box in your own bathroom. The best location for a litter box is in a small closet; preferably somewhere you keep your cleaning supplies.

ā€¢ Avoid using hooded litter boxes. No matter how clean you keep it, the hood will trap odors.

ā€¢ Try lining the bottom of the litter box with a thin layer of baking soda.

ā€¢ Opt for a clumping cat litter. They make it easier to remove waste.

ā€¢ Use a litter box deodorizer.

ā€¢ Be diligent about cleaning the litter box and area surrounding it

The following is a great brand of litter that neutralizes odors upon contact with moisture. I have noticed a difference since we started using it.

Is there a cheaper brand of cat litter that works as well as just the crystals?

I don't like crystals because it would be painful to walk on. Have you ever tried walking on it yourself? Sometimes cheap can come out expensive. I use World Best Cat Litter and I have never had to change out the litter box for over a year. I CLEAN IT DAILY but the wet never falls to the bottom of the pan and you have to pour it it out and change it. You sometimes can find $5.00 coupons online

XNon functioning littermaid LM980 mega

Common problem with Littermaid boxes. Try a better brand of clumping litter. Try using a little less litter. And you can help the rake lift up by slowly pushing on it with something, giving it more strength. I had this problem and found that if I "helped" the rake return to its normal position, it would work most of the time, and then need "help" every once in awhile. I actually gave up on littermaid type boxes...they just don't work very well.

What is the best litter box for my kitty?

Little kittens require a litter box with sides low enough for them to get in and out easily. You should visit http://www.shopzilla.com/cat-supplies/litter+boxes/31000200/products and you should find the right litter box for your kitty.

They have stopped making the brand of litter I have always bought for my cats litter box so I will need to find a new one. I have been told that cats do not adapt well to new litter. What can I do to...

I would recommend adding a small amount of the new litter in with the older product. Slowly you can start adding more and more newer product to the litter box until your cat receives the change without any problems.

My cat has suddenly stopped using his litter box. Why would this be? How can I get him to return to the litter box?

Is there any chance you have recently switched brands of litter? Cats can be extremely particular when it comes to what kind of litter you put in their litter box. If you find one that works, you should stick with it. No need to fix something that isn't broken.
