Dell 610 - battery will not charge and adapter goes "blink"

Dell Latitude 610

I have a problem with my Dell Latitude 610 not charging the battery. It runs well on battery till charge runs out. (I put a new charged battery from another computer and it will work) It looks like there is a problem between the power chord and the motherboard. Whenever I plug in the power cord, the green light goes off on the adapter. I can use the same adapter on another computer and it works (so rules out adapter problem) I am thinking it is the "power module" on the mother board. I have in my possession a Dell 600 motherboard and I am wondering if I can just swap them??

Yes, it does sound like a motherboard power circuit issue. The other board should fit, but I can't guarantee it. If it physically looks the same as far as ports, I'd give it a try. You can access the service manual on Dell's website.

4 orange and 1 green flashing means temporary battery failure.
Try charging the battery overnight and the battery may get to 100%
If not the the battery is faulty/worn out and needs replacing.

LIGHT COMES ON AC ADAPTER BUT GOES OFF WHEN PLUGGED INTO NOTEBOOK

This is possibly an internal power Supply fault. take the battery out, plug in the adapter, IF the unit works now, you have A: A battery problem, or B: a charging circuit problem. If the unit still fails to work, the power supply in the PC has faulted. You need to get a "Quote: for a repair.

We unplug the computer and it goes out does not

1. boot on bios (turn on laptop keep tapping F2, check the bios version and check the battery health and battery info)
2. if the battery is charge like 10% then battery info says batt performing normally then update the bios, download the latest bios from the dell support site.
3. if battery is 0% charge check if the ac adapter has correct watt display on the bios under battery info, make sure ac adapter is 65W above. if all fails then replace the battery.

Dell latitude l400 mother board power problem

SOLUTION  # 2:
The  adapter can be plugged into the DELL the wrong way and it won't charge then. I've done this myself so check to see if the adapter plug that goes into the laptop has a grey battery icon on it. The icon goes on top when you plug it in. For different laptops the symbol may be different than what I mentioned.

Battery stopped working

Hey,

Test your charger, the battery light blinking and the computer not starting up indicates not enough power to start up or not pluged into ac power, check the power adapter or charger. I suspect the battery is fine.

Thanks,
Ekse
