We have an Empire gas wall heater. I can light the pilot, but the burners don't ignite. Don't the burners light almost at once?

I have a Empire wall furnace Model # DV-235-2-SG 3500 BTU'S the electrical igniter will click but the pilot won't go on.

Clean the hole of the pilot light and clean the metal where the spark comes from and goes to. Could be bad igniter though.Mine here iffy, so I just light it with a long match while holding down the button in pilot mode. don-ohio (:^)

Pilot lights but no main burner

Is there a way to check for gas pressure even if just a slight loosened connection to hear it then quickly re-tightened. Otherwise the main valve is not working as it should and will need to be serviced or replaced. Thats all i got.

My empire wall furnace does not ignite. It has gas flowing because the pilot is light, i have changed the thermostat and wired it two different ways in case I reversed them. What is next? Could it be the...

It could be several things: Is the Control Knob turned from Pilot to ON? If that is the case, wait a few minutes after turning it to ON. That will allow the Thermopile to heat up sufficiently. Be sure the flame is touching the Thermopile. If everything looks correct turn up your Thermostat to higher than the ambient room temperature and see if the burners light. Remember to turn your Wall Thermostat down to the lowest temperature setting before turning the knob from Pilot to ON.

FYI - That Wall Furnace does not have a Thermocouple. It uses a Thermopile instead to generate millivolts of electricity to open the gas valve and maintain the pilot flame.

If it is the Thermopile, you can order it directly from Empire Comfort Systems, as well as download your Owners Manual at www.empirecomfort.com

Uh1200-fsp---pilot lit main burners wont ignite, fan runs, has new thermocoupler????

If you installed the new thermocouple, you may have overtightened it. It should be installed finger tight and only a quarter turn more. If it's to tight it won't allow the gas valve to open to light the burners. Be sure to turn the gas off, before attempting to work on the unit.

PILOT FOR EMPIRE WALL HEATER WONT STAY LIT. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE THERMOCOUPLE

are you sure the problem is with the thermocouple? is the pilot sharp and blue? it is unconnon for the magnet in a gas valve to go bad but it does happen. place the thermocouple in the valve and with it in front of you heat it with a match or lighter for 30 sec. now try and light the pilot quickly. if it lights the the problem would be the pilot, if not then the valve. is this a milivolt system or hydrolic t stat.

Empire wall heater with wall vent pilot light

It sounds like the gas valve is dropping out. Make sure the system is venting the exhaust(no restrictions). Then make sure all your wiring connections in the unit are tight. In a millivolt system if all wiring connections aren't tight and clean your circuit will drop in millivolts and the gas valve will drop out. The gas valve requires a certain millivolt to stay open. I hope I was of some assistance!! Good luck!!

Pilot light wont stay lit

You need to replace the pilot safety switch which is usually a Thermocouple. It is connected by a thin tube from the gas valve to a bulb near the pilot burner. It should be available at Home Depot or online.

Pilot on burners won't light

Pilot won't light - natural gas or propane. check for a spider web in the burner tube. check no dust in burner tube. check surface igniter is lit. if pilot lights check flame detector - may be a millivolt generator - it is a small capillary with a copper tip in flame path. no fire will keep the pilot valve closed. replace the generator.
