Question about Bernina Artista 180

1 Answer

Bernina Artista 180 won't power on

I have the on button on, have changed the power sources and still my sewing machine will not load up and allow me to sew. The front panel is a lighted white screen with none of the options available. Is there a fuse or something I don't know about here?

    Rick,

If I giggle everything enough times, the machine will power on and works fine. So, it sounds like a short-circuit? I haven't used the machine enough to need a new L-print. Even though it is an older machine, it's probably got a total of 20 hours on it.

I feel so fortunate to have found you, Rick. Thanks for helping me with this problem. I'd hate to give up my Bernina as it's a sweet machine. I just can't afford to put any money into it right now.

There is a fuse inside but the fact that it even lights up shows the fuse is ok. I really think you are looking at a new L- print (circuitboard). Whatever the issue it is an electronic problem. So it certainly sounds like you will need to take it to a Bernina tech. Possibly there is still a warranty or else it will not be inexpensive.

Either you need a new power cord or the connector in the machine is loose. Maybe someone has another power cord you can try or a dealership. If you can get a T20 torx screw driver you can take the nearest screw to the plug-in out. Then you can look at the circuit board behind there. I think there is 2 fuses you can check. You never know, one might be loose. Just be sure to ground yourself first.(touch a metal part of the machine and make sure you don't have a static charge in you). Any power surge or static shock can damage the circuit board.
