When a person tries to send me a fax, the person always gets a busy signal. Is the fax or the phone line. I have Vonage. The fax is Panasonic Model KX-F1050, which is 11 years old. Vern Nelson ullavern@roadrunner.com

Vonage is voip and not all fax machines work well on it. vonage also have this type of service at an extra cost but will save you more on getting a new machine and configuration headaches.

Vonage is VOIP and not all fax works well with it.

Here is a couple of things you can do:

make sure only the fax is connected to the Vonage line.

send a one page black and white text fax to 1-888-473-2963.

when your fax is received, a return fax is generated within five minutes confirming that your fax was received. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax with your fax machine.

else, contact Vonage for more info

Unplug the phone/fax machine and try calling, if the line sounds busy, then it is the line, if the line is idle, then it is a defective fax machine that sends busy signal on the line.
Try replacing the phone cable, if this does not fisx it, the fas is faulty.

Are you able to send faxes to this person or is that not working either. Also is the answering mode still set right?

Has the power gone out or any other problems recently?

Try resetting the machine by unplugging it from both the power and the phone line and try to fax again, if you have already tried this, let me know and please answer ALL of my questions so I can know the situation better

When trying to fax, iam getting a fast busy signal, this problem just strated

This could be related to the fax machine, but more than likely it's a phone line issue. Try sending a fax manually by using the fax machine's speaker or "on-hook", then manually dial the number. Listen carefully as the machine dials and make sure it's even dialing out. Do not hit start until you hear the other fax machine pick up. If the "fast" busy signal occurs before dialing is complete or right after, have your phone line checked.

Tip

A fax machine is just a big ol' telephone answering machine

There is no mystery, seriously. You send a fax exactly the same way as you make a phone call; instead of talking to a person, your fax machine talks to another fax machine. Clicks, squeals, buzz sounds.

If it says it's busy, well, it's busy
If it doesn't answer, it's not set to AUTO RECEIVE
If it says OFF HOOK another device is using YOUR phone line.
If you don't hear a dial tone when you press the HOOK or MONITOR key, the phone line is dead. Check the line with a regular phone.

If a dial tone sounds weird, it is a DIGITAL phone line. You need an ANALOG or regular phone line.

ALL FAX MACHINES ARE ANALOG DEVICES AND WILL NOT WORK RELIABLY ON A DIGITAL SYSTEM OR A COMPUTER....Magic Jack, Vonage, etc. are DIGITAL PHONE SYSTEMS. Don't believe what the Vendor tells you. They are for designed for VOICE GRADE PHONE CALLS ONLY.

The settings in your fax machine were designed by people who are a lot smarter and make more money than us. DON"T MESS WITH THE PARAMETERS.

It's all that SIMPLE !!

Check the fax line with a regular phone and dial a fax number to listen for fax tones.

I have a kx-fhd331 and I am not getting complete pages

They probably have upped the DIGITAL signal.

Fax machines are ANALOG devices and will not work reliably on DIGITAL phone lines.

Cannot receive faxes with my Panasonic Model No.KX-F1050. There is alway busy signal for the person trying to fax me. Is this the fax or the phone line? I have a Vonage Phone System.

Fax machines are ANALOG devices. Vonage, et al are DIGITAL systems.

Your fax will be very unreliable.

Here's a free tip, take the toner cartridge out and remove the swinging drum cover and spring, it's only for shipping. This item will come loose and cause jams.

The person you are sending to has a busy phone line.

Call your cell phone from the fax machine to test.

Vonage vs Brither 4100

Have you called your own fax line and just listened to the fax hand shake? might sound simple but I have called fax lines before and it just rang, or it was busy or static, if your not getting a clear fax hand shake, then it is the phone line, if there is no answer you may have turned your fax to manual receive mode, If you don't know how it should sound call a friends business fax line and listen to it. I have actually gone out to businesses that reported send or receive problems just to call the line and listen to a disconnect message, that would make it difficult to fax.
