Question about Iomega (33215) 250 GB Hard Drive

Iomega 250 GB external stopped working

Hi, my Iomega 250 GB hard drive has stopped working within the last hour. The power light is on, but the drive is not making any working noises, and my computer (Dell, Windows XP) is completely unable to detect it. I've tried unplugging, rebooting, and all of my USB ports, but nothing works. I looked at another similar posting about a failing Iomega, but I can't even find it in my device manager to see an error alert. Can I "reset" the drive or something like that?

Thanks so much for your help.

Same thing, the power light comes on and the machine 'beeps' at regular intervals but doesn't boot up

same problem .. light keeps blinking and drive is not shown in my computer.

I fixed this problem on my external. Unfortunately one of the prongs on the connector was broken so it was not getting appropriate power (or something). I bought a new power supply (for $10) and the problem is completely resolved. I didn't have to reset or reformat or anything.

It suddenly stopped working out of the blue. It makes choppy buzzing noises for about two minutes, then that ceases. The light is on the whole time... but it won't connect to any computer, nor will anything pop up to indicate that it's at least recognized.

This is really not a solution, but you should all try to connect your iomega to a imac, and use the Disk Utility (in Utilities folder), if you have any luck the hard drive will be recognized and you will be able to format it

My Iomega LDHD250U 250 GB USB External Hard Drive's Power and Usb ports WILLNOT CONNECT!!!!!!! Please help ive been trying to figure out why all day.

Dear Friend, Your I-Omega case might be bad or the controller inside that connects everything. I suggest you to get: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Apricorn-Universal-Hard-Drive-Adapter/10811435. and pulled your hard drive enclosure apart, then removed your hard drive and connect with the external adapter. Usually comes with a SATA or IDE connector for data and power adapter. After connecting everything plug into your PC and it should be able to recognize.
Good Luck#

How can I tell if everything is downloaded to my external drive...it was flashing and then stopped to leave a little light on...how can I tell how much memory is left on that external hard drive?

Hello and Good Day!

1.Click Start on the lower corner of your desktop PC go to My Computer. 2. Left Click My Computer using your mouse.(it will pop up new windows) 3.Locate your Hard Drive perhaps it is labeled as IOMEGA or removable drive. 4. Right click IOMEGA or removable drive then select Properties.a new window will pop up displaying a circle with two colors one is pink and other is blue. blue represents as used space and the pink as free space
Hope it helps Thanks!

Cannot copy files to Iomega 500 GB external hard drive.

It depends on how you formatted the the drive.
If it was formatted FAT it will work on both Mac and PC.
If you formatted to HFS+ (the native mac format) then it will only work on a mac.

Computer doesn' t recognize iomega eGo portable

a windows update may have run and killed the drivers...try rolling the system back to before the problem started, then if updates run again..and set them to download but dont install..install them yourself..run updates and see if the problem re-appears.

No Power to External Hard Drive

Do you have access to a multimeter or voltmeter? If you do you can check the voltage coming out of the adapter and make sure it matches what the power adapter says it is. If it doesn't, then it is the power adapter. If it does, then it is the drive or enclosure.

How to lock an Iomega MiniMax 250 GB Hard Drive?

They make chains with locks that screw to a secure surface. (floor, wall, desk, specially made etc.) You then hook you hard drive to the secure lock and someone can't easily pilfer it. Hope that helps, Tim
