Well, thats the door switch. Probably the plastic locking flanges that holds it in place are broken off allowing it to fall back in the cabinet. The flanges and switch are one in the same part itself and not very expensive, but you have to remove the top deck of the cabinet to access the switch/wiring harness and render replacement efforts. You can purchase the part thru Sears/Kenmore by giving them your Whirlpool model number. Once you have the part, be sure to unplug your machine first before attempting this! Safety first!

Thermal fuse part number

25851826-kucbmckx3u3x3wmaw0z02dzb-3-0.jpg Hello. The part numbers are as follows:
42 THERMISTOR 8577274
47 & 48 THERMAL CUT-OFF W/ THERMISTOR-HC STAT 280148(one part number for both thermals in a kit)
51 THERMAL FUSE 3390719
TIP--use a magnetic screwdriver that will take nut-driver bits
You will have to raise the top cover, then, on the right side corner, disconnect the door switch connector. Next, using a headlamp, look inside the unit, back towards the front near the upper left and right corners about 4 inches down on either side. Notice there is a screw on each side. Remove these 2 screws and that will release the front cover. Arc the top of it towards you and lift it off the metal positioning tabs at the bottom and set it aside. Remove the lint screen now. Remove the 3-4 screws that hold the lint duct assembly(metal blower cover) in place. CAREFULLY pull the cover away from the lint screen holder(be *darn* careful that you don't damage the wires connected to the moisture sensor bars on the upper right side of the lint screen holder). Now, carefully look for the thermal fuse attached to the blower housing. It will be the one towards the front, slightly to the left of the exhaust thermistor. It will have a pair of light blue wires attached to it. Note P9-1 BU(blue), thermal fuse, BU(blue). Replace the fuse and reassembly is the reverse--caution--don't forget to re-connect the door switch connector at the right corner--cause "It ain't gonna do a thing" (even if you pray for it to work! LOL)

Replace starter switch

Putty knife to release the top then lift the top off there. I ain't never seen a start switch break yet. Your fuse is probably gone or door switch broken. Start switch nawsir. Rare.
Small disk on rear upper right hand corner is the fuse. If open the dryer will not operate.

Tumbler belt needs to be replaced. How do I remove the dryer panel for access?

1.Unplug your Maytag dryer from the wall outlet, and pull the dryer two feet away from the wall.
2.Wrap duct tape around the edge of a 2-inch putty knife blade. Go to the front of the dryer and insert the putty knife between the top and bottom panels, two inches from the right corner of the dryer.
3.Press the putty knife blade over the inside retaining clip while lifting the top right corner with your free hand. Pull the putty knife out, and insert the putty knife two inches from the left corner of the dryer.Slide the blade over the retaining clip, and raise the top panel completely back toward the rear wall.
4.Disconnect the door switch wiring harness on the upper right inside corner of the dryer cabinet.Press the locking tabs on each side of the wiring harness with your fingers and pull the harness away from the door switch.
5.Locate the screws that secure the front panel to the sides of the dryer. The screws are on the inside front upper corners on flanges. Remove the screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
6.Pull the top of the front panel six inches toward you, and lift the panel up and off the bottom retainers.Place the front panel out of your way until you are ready to reinstall the panel.

We need to know what wires to hook together to bypass the door switch on our maytag electric dryer to test it

lift the top up on your dryer.this will require a wide, flat tool @ front corners.a flat screw driver will work but a stiff putty knife is ideal.lift & pull.the door switch is in the upper right hand corner.when you raise the top & lean it carefully out of the way you will see the obvious door switch wires.pull them off of the switch & put them together w/ a clothes can bump the start button w/ the lid still up.if it starts up,its the switch.

I have a kenmore upright freezer model #253.9266411 there is a gap in the upper left side does anyone know how to adjust the door? The seal is fine

I'm assuming you don't want to replace the door seal. Open the freezer door. Stand "inside" the open door and place your foot at the right bottom corner (looking from the inside). Place your hand in the top right corner and pull it very slightly toward you. Do this in small amounts until the gap closes making sure you don't open one at the bottom.

An alternate method is to warm the gapped section of the door seal with a hair dryer to soften the rubber enough to allow the magnet within the rubber to pull the seal gap closed. This has worked for me numerous times by making small adjustments at a time. Good Luck

My dryer will not turn on the light is on, but it won't turn on. It is a Kenmore 70 series.

You probably have an open thermo fuse. This is usualy caused by an overheat condition - or- a restrictricted vent.
Also check the door switch tab - usually protruding o n the upper corner of the opening of the dryer (door open of course)

I have a kenmore 110.72212100

HI, YOu need to check the door switch button to make sure that it didn't break off when you slammed the door. It is located at the top of the door opening, ususally right hand corner. There should be a little tab sticking out of the cabinet. Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

Electric clothes dryer will not turn on

Check in the upper corner of the dryer when you open it. There should be a slot where a little tab sticks out. This is the door switch. The tab should stick out about 3/4 of an inch. Is it broken? Dave
