If I understood correct, the computer is asking you to connect to the internet through a service provider. What this means is that you are not identified as having a real access to the internet.
You actually have three ways of connecting to the internet, when connecting from a laptop:
with a wire, and then connecting it to a source of internet (like a modem)
wireless - which means that you must have a wireless internet provider (WiFi). For example, a lot of the coffee shops have a WiFi access, which means that you can ask for a username and a password when you enter a coffee shop, and then may connect to the internet.
a cellular card, which is provided usually by a cellular provider services. You can purchase it for a few bucks each month, and then you should be connected to the internet anywhere you want to (with a WiFi or without it)
A laptop is pretty mobile, but it depends where...
Depending what internet connection your using, dsl, cable,or wireless,. if its wireless you probably disabled your wifi , to re enable it push the wifi button, or right click the lower right hand corner with the two screen icons and connect to a network..
The only way to install an antivirus is if you go to the store and buy the antivirus program and just put it on your computer,, the only problem is you wont be able to update your virus definitions, i recommend getting internet if you want to get the best out of a antivirus....
Have you tried to connect using the same internet connection at all times? (sorry, just to be sure). Try to dissable the adapter via device manager, restart the computer and once windows is fully loaded up, re-enable it. If it did not fix it, look for the latest drivers in the laptop manufacturer's web site and install them. That should get it fixed. Good luck.
do you have dsl cable also ? did you recently restore computer? sounds like your driver isn't working right try makeing sure on buttom is turned on in the pc sometimes even though it is picking it wifi won't work ,also might try looking at your internet options check connections lan settings should be a check in the top box on the automatic detect settings make sure that is check orther wise it will not connnect ... lala linda let me know
