HP5550c scanner using Paperport 7.0LE - slow scanning
My HP5550c scanner has software that even with updates doesn't work well with Windows XP. I am using Paperport 7.0 LE software to access to scanner. Everything WAS working fine until recently, when the scanner speed dropped significantly (was 5-8ppm, now down to 2ppm). I'm trying to determine what might have caused this and how I can fix it? I do a faorly large amount of scanning for business and this is a significant hinderance. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Have you upgraded to newer version of windows? Have you tried reinstalling Paperport? (back up max files 1st) I have had a visioneer and still use Paperport 8. Often I have problems with Windows 8 and reinstall paperport now and then.
This is only a scanner. To Fax, you will need a separate fax machine or fax modem. If both the scanner and fax machine are connected to your computer, you will be able to scan the document and then fax it from the computer. (Depending on your OS/software, this could be easy or take several steps. For Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can use Windows Fax and Scan to do both steps. (However, the program doesn't scan to PDFs.) Paperport will also send a scanned document to an installed fax option. PaperPort is part of the third-party software that came on the CD with the scanner.)
Hello, I've looked around on the website and there doesn't seem to be a driver for this device to work on Windows 7. It doesn't support this operating system, sorry.
You can either downgrade to Windows XP or get a new barcode scanner.
Checking their website, v7.02 does not support Windows 7. Their drivers page lists up to Windows Vista, which should also work on Windows 7, but the only mention of a 64-bit OS is the fact that WindowsXP-64 is NOT supported. You will probably need to either a) get in touch with Visioneer and find out whether there is a patch or update that will allow v7.02 to run on Win7-64, or b) upgrade to v11 (the latest version of Paperport). Hope this helps!
PaperPort 9 won't work on Windows 7. I tried compatibility mode and it still doesn't work. If you have a son or grandson in full time education you may be able to buy PaperPort 14 from www.software4students,co.uk for a very low price.
PaperPort 9 is not supported for Win7. You need to upgrade your product or use a Virtual computer running a different OS. PaperPort 10 is being tested with Win7. PaperPort 11.2 and PaperPort 12 are fully supported under Win7. (My household has PaperPort 11. It doesn't work consistently with Win7 and a generic Win7 driver for an older scanner.)
With Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you have the option of downloading and installing the XP mode. (This actually takes two downloads.) Once you are running the virtual XP computer, you can install the PaperPort 9 and the scanner (if you want to capture the files from there). To share images with the real computer, files may need to be stored to external media. Hardware can only be installed to one "computer" and you will be prompted to uninstall the device from the other computer.
