Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have a brand new acer aspire one. A moment ago, when I wanted to open it, I saw that the green light on its top right, that is, at its "start" button was on, and the battery was a bit displaced at one end. I pushed back the battery, connected the acer to electric power as usual and waited for long. Nothing happened, except that the ventilator was running ... When I wanted to switch it off, by pushing the "start" button, it did not respond, and the green light kept being on ... I closed the acer, unpluged it from electricity, and started to remove the battery. At that moment, I could see inside the closed acer that the green light on the "start" button went off, and the ventilator stopped ... Question : what is going on, and how can it be fixed ?

    dear knotbeerdan

    I tried your suggestion.
when I stopped pressing the power button, it simply went dark. meanwhile, the screen remained dark all the time, however, the fan started running as soon as I pressed the power button.

some minutes later, I pressed the power button again, but only short, that is, as usual. The computer reacted as before : the power button remained gree, the fan started, but not at all the screen.

after that, again, the power button would not go dark upon a short,, usual pressing, but only after one of 5-10 seconds ...

    beats me ... !!!

    some further detail :

I plug the computer into the electric power, press short the power button, and immediately after hear the fan moving.
the power button remains green, and the screen dark for minutes ...

if now I press short the power button while it is still green, nothing changes : the button stays green when released, the fan keeps moving, and the screen is black.

however, if I press for 5-10 seconds the green power button, then sometime inbetween the fan stops and the power button goes dark, while I still press it.

lastly, if at the beginning above, instead of pressing the power button short, I press it longer, then again, the fan starts, the power button goes green, but after a few seconds, it goes dark while I am still pressing it, and the screen is dark all the time ...

Most likely your laptop is going into sleep mode. Lots of them do not like sleep mode if nothing happens when you push the power button try to hold it down for about 5 sec. your computer should power off and then you can start as normal. If this problem persists change the options in your control panel to turn sleep mode off. That should solve it.

It kinda sounds like you got a laptop with a bad screen if nothing appears at all during the boot up then that would be my next guess. It might help if you go to the manuf. website and see if there were any recalls or any complaints from others with the same problem

Computer wont start acer aspire L-100

CPU overheated? When you cool it down it will start. You can check whether there are lots of dust on the CPU fan and the chase of the machine, they might block the air flow and overheat the CPU.

When I unplugged my Acer PC and plugged it back in, it would not restart. It did this once before, after punching it on and off repeatedly, it finally started. Not so this time...It makes the right noises...

It may be due to CPU Fan problem or other. If u can do, open the cpu cover and go to fan and Open the Fan or Sometimes hitting the fan may work. Don't hit it badly do gently okey. If solved thums up!

Unable to locate indication of caps lock on or off

On the keyboard, there should be an area to the right top that will light up when you click the caps lock button. Typically this key is found above the shift key on the left hand side of the keyboard.

My brand new acer aspire one computer will not turn on. I have tried everything, taking the battery out, the light turns green on the power button but it will not turn on. HELP

Try pressing Function F5.
Since you say the power light does come on it could be that the display somehow got set to use an external display like another monitor or projector.
This toggles between internal and external display
