When I turn on the mp3 player, is says "OPAL- Initializing" and then the screen goes black and I cannot get anything to open or show. I loaded a few songs from a CD on a couple of days ago, and now it won't work. HELP! Thanks!

I had this problem. I had to really try several different things to get the software to recognize the mp3 player. RCA does have download software that will format your MP3 player and put the firmware on the player. It would be better to get the firmware on without formatting if you have files already on it. Just be sure that you get the screen that shows it is connected to USB.
IF the mp3 is stuck on initializing your firmware went bad. You need to go to the RCA website. http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/ search your make and model. download the firmware for it. After the firmware is download plug mp3 player in usb device of your computer. Then install the firmware.
