How do you import contacts

When you install Outlook 2010, it automatically converts the Personal Address Book that you used in an earlier version of Microsoft Outlook. Outlook 2010 then adds the converted data to your Outlook 2010 Contacts folder.

If Outlook 2010 does not automatically convert your Personal Address Book, you can import your Personal Address Book to Outlook 2010. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Outlook 2010.
  2. Click the File menu.
  3. Click Open, and then click Import. The Import and Export Wizard opens.
  4. Click Import from another program or file, and then click Next.
  5. Click Personal Address Book, and then click Next.
  6. Click Browse, locate the Personal Address Book that you want to import, and then click OK.

    Note Earlier versions of Outlook assign a .pab file name extension to a Personal Address Book. By default, Outlook stores the Personal Address Book in the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Finish to import the Personal Address Book.

Properties in importing excel table to an access table

This article explains how to import a Microsoft Excel file into Microsoft Access version 2.0 or 7.0. Microsoft Access can import files from Microsoft Excel version 2.0 through version 7.0. However, Microsoft Access cannot import Microsoft Excel 4.0 workbooks (.xlw). This article assumes that the Microsoft Excel file is using standard database formatting. That is:

To import a Microsoft Excel file in Microsoft Access 2.0 loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation');
  1. Save the file in Microsoft Excel using standard database formatting listed above. Close the file.
  2. Start Microsoft Access 2.0 and open the database you want to import the Microsoft Excel information into.
  3. On the File menu, click Import. From the Import dialog box, choose the appropriate version of Microsoft Excel that you are importing and click the OK button. Microsoft Excel 7.0 files are not on this list. If you are importing a version 7.0 file, choose the Microsoft Excel 5.0 option.
At this point options such as whether to append to an existing table or create a new table may be selected.
To import a Microsoft Excel file in Microsoft Access 7.0 loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation');
  1. Save the file in Microsoft Excel using standard database formatting listed above. Close the file.
  2. Start Microsoft Access 7.0 and open the database you want to import the Microsoft Excel information into.
  3. On the File menu, click Get External Data and then click Import.
  4. From the import dialog box, choose Microsoft Excel (*.xls) for the Files Of Type option.

    This will display only the Microsoft Excel files.
  5. Find the desired file and click the Import button.
The Import Spreadsheet Wizard appears and allows you to choose options specific to the file.

or you just use the link for any problem where you can get details of the importing

My final objective is to copy my contacts and messages in my Nokia E66 (with a symbian OS) to my new HTC Legend with an Android 2.1 OS. To do this i have devised the following way - 1) Using Nokia PC...

There could be two problems first once you used comma separated values spaces in contact names are definetly going to occur that is going to ruin the file. This approach is entirely not recommended. Secondly if the file while copy has triggered any event in the OS that will be unavailable and would be shown under using category. Hence, first hit ctrl + alt + del open processes tab right click processes and select end process tree wait for 10 seconds click on first tab and click new task command button and type explorer and ok. Now try to import the contacts in outlook. I'm providing this so you can do this with your own method. There are many more methods to achieve the same. Kindly let me know if this does not works.

Outlook 2007 Contact

Do you remember when you imported the output from your BB? One of the last steps after you have chosen the file to import shows a button for Map Custom Fields. Choose that button and then drag Full Name from the left side to FIRST NAME on the right side. When I did that, Outlook shows them in order of First name.

Because your previous import mapped FullName from BB to Last Name, that's the way it's showing. I tried within Outlook to change it around and it would not change it for me either.

I just stumbled on this one. Actually it's EASY! Open up your contacts list in Notes, go to the File menu, choose export. You can pick either "Structured Text", "Tabular Text", or "Comma Separated Value". All of these import well into either of those programs.

Excell

In Excel, you can import the scan, by importing a picture. You will need to put the scan into a compatible format. Can you open the scan and save it as a JPEG or other format that Excel can recognize? You can then import it, resize it as necessary, and place it next to your data. Then you can select a specific grid of cells as the Print Area, and tell Excel to 'fit' your document to one page wide by one page tall in your Print Setup.
