Question about KitchenAid 24 in. KUDS01FLBL Built-in Dishwasher
Stopped mid cycle full of water, no lights on panel. There is power to the dishwasher. I have re-cycled the power to no avail. I have the unit pulled out from under the counter and have access to all the components. Is there a secret spot that I can hit with a big hammer or is there a more subtle approach you suggest?

Check your thermal fuse. The fuse is located inside the control panel on or near the main control board. It will be a bullet shaped component mounted with a white plastic clip with two wires leading from it. The fuse should read a short if good. Now...keep in mind, if the fuse blew it is usually for a reason. Replacing it may or may not correct your problem. In some model dishwashers there was a thermal fuse kit that was required to be installed which involved cutting the wires and using a wire splice to connect the new fuse. It seems that there was a design flaw where the gauge wire used in manufacturing would cause the thermal fuse to blow prematurely due the wire overheating. I can't remember if this applies to KitchenAid, but I believe it does. You may inquire about this at your local parts store. I hope this helps you.

Sounds like you have a one of four possible issues. More info to diagnose would be helpful. (age, which mid cycle) If the motor runs when you turn the timer dial than it is a belt/motor pump issue. If the motor does not run than a bad motor start switch or the water level switch. More than likely the motor/pump assembly as this is usually the problem on these models. If newer check with whirlpool the manufacturer to see if it is covered by warranty.

Check to see if power is getting to the motor. If it is then you have a bad motor. Is the motor making a noise? Some of that broken plastic could have got down into the pump and have it locked up.
