Www.fixya.com/users/freetek My tv, the above model turns off within a1-2 minutes of running. A choke was replaced about 3yrs ago but the tv at that point would not turn on at all. It does come on but will quickly go back out. Is there website that I can get replaceable parts for it? I have the model numbers,ect and Im waiting 24-48 hrs for the tv to discharge before I open the rear for viewing. I dont smell anything overheating or burned ,but if I see something scorched or heated should I seek an entire replacement board?

yes it is worth fixing & not that serious. but please call skilled tech to fix it as high voltade is inside even it is off.if you are not a tech person.

The MZ73L is a posistor, its basically 2 thermal resistors back to back. One is connected across the mains, the other one connects the deguassing loop to the mains. When the TV is 1st turned on the mains connected R is cold so its neighbour is cold, that allows a large surge of current into the degaussing coil. The mains connected one rapidly gets hot and heats up the other one, this increases the resistance of it and the current being dumped into the degauss coil fades away. As the 1st one is a heater it will get hot and you will see signs of heat on the PCB, BUT its still a very good place to start. The heat is normal, but if the 1st ceramic disk in it has died then you will short the mains and blow the fuse with it.

Greetings. I had the same problem with my 29" RCA, and it was easy to repair. I opened the back cover of my tv and just disconected the two wires cable that connect with the upper controler (volume, chanels, etc); and now it is working OK; but I must operate the tv only with the remote controler.

The usual order of probability I have found is:

Semiconductors
Electrolytic caps
Regular caps
resistors
inductors/trnasformers

Static testing OFTEN will not reveaal the failure.
