Same here. After a about 20 mins of frustration from my daughter. I tried it. Still no luck. Sounds like faulty game cards.

You have to hold the green button down, don't just keep pressing it. you can also blow into the mic to start the fan....good luck

We tried "holding" the green button down, but it goes back up. so we tried pushing it back down repeatidly until a blue button appeared to turn on the fan. When you are at that point you can either blow into the mic to start the fan or press the blue button. That seemed to work for us.

You have to hold down the green button (keep touching the screen) and the steam will keep going until the next step happens.

I can't get past level 8-8 (Nintendo DS, Mario Bros.)

Well if you have played the original Super Mario Bros. on NES, then you'll know that the last level has a certain secret path, only crossing which will let you advance further in the level. Same with NSMB, in the last level in the Bowser's castle, just because you encounter Bowser, there is a secret hidden path which you have to cross in the correct manner. When you do so, you hear a sound. Check this video out on how to exactly find the correct path:

In World 7 - 4 (I think its World 7 - 6), use MINI Mario or Mini Luigi and hit bombs and throw bombs to make them explode and go to the tiny hole and ull end up somewhere  and ull beat the level and ull get to past the land to get to World 7 - 7

Locking up after rubbing the hearts

I think that the DS has just frozen. It happens sometimes, the heart should go onto the top screen and then fly into the bear.
