I need changes my memory 2 pcs @ 1GB DDR1 PC3200 with 2 pcs @ 2GB DDR2 PC6400 in Asus P5VDC-MX Motherboard. please advice. Thank you

Number of Memory Slots: 2×184pin + 2×240pin
Memory Standard: DDR 400/DDR2 533
Maximum Memory Supported:2GB

PC6400(DDR2 800) is not supported by your motherboard. Also max memory is 2GB. PC4200 is the fastest memory you can install. There might be a BIOS update available from ASUS website to increase the speed but you would have to check the site.

Looking for the manual for a Gateway 700S PC. Specifically 2 questions ... 1) how do I open the ATX tower case? and 2) what EXACT memory specs do i need to upgrade this unit from the 256MB that it came...

Hello,
for the memory upgrade, your system used RDRAM RIMMS.
it supports the following memory modules (which must be installed in pairs).

and as for opening the case, you there should just be ~2 screws on the side panel away from the motherboard ports that you can remove and it will slide off, or there might be 1 or 2 thumb screws.

64MB Module 64MBx16, 800MHz PC800, 184p RIMM, RDRAM, 45ns, 2.5v PC800-Kit-136 128MB Module 128MBx16, 800MHz PC800, 184p RIMM, RDRAM, 45ns, 2.5v PC800-Kit-079 512 MB Kit 256MBx16, 800MHz PC800, 184p RIMM, RDRAM, 45ns, 2.5v PC800-Kit-081 64MB ECC Module 64MBx18, 800MHz PC800, 184p RIMM, ECC, RDRAM, 45ns, 2.5v PC800-Kit-134 128MB ECC Module 128MBx18, 800MHz PC800, 184p RIMM, ECC, RDRAM, 45ns, 2.5v PC800-Kit-080 512 MB ECC Kit 256MBx18, 800MHz PC800, 184p RIMM, ECC, RDRAM, 45ns, 2.5v PC800-Kit-082

I want to upgrade my procesor to faster procesor.

Upgrading processor is not likely a practical solution; find out the motherboard manufacturer and contact their site for more information. As to upgrading the motherboard, you'll have to know what kind/size of board your system will require. If you don't have lots of experience, this process is very risky.

Frankly, the cheapest way to upgrade your computer is to buy a used and working product with Windows XP already installed. Go to http://craigslist.com, select your city, and search for a brand name you trust. I've bought DOZENS of used computers very cheap that way (I'm writing this on a $2,200 Dell Latitude D620 I bought fiv months old for $500, who needed the cash!)

Processor upgrade

Here is a link to the manual for the motherboard.
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock423/850/
p4t-m/p4tm-100.pdf

The manual doesn't really say what cpu speeds the board supports.
1.4 ghz was about the fastest processor speed when the board came out. My guess is that a 2.0 ghz cpu may not work.
It would be a slight improvement over the 1.4 ghz cpu, but not a huge difference.

PC don´t boot after upgrading BIOS

Have you tried to reset the bios by removing the battery for around 10 minutes then putting it back in??? i would try this first.

If this is unsuccesful then i really suggest you have burned your bios doing the upgrade... you might be out of luck on this one

Asus M2N-MX Motherboard 4gb Ram wont work

I had the same problem and ASUS tech support was of no help. I did however find the culpret in the BIOS setup. Go to Advanced, Chipset, NorthBridge Chipset, and Memory Configuration. Set the Bank Interleaving to Disabled and save the settings. Check these settings also while you are there:
Channel Interleaving = Auto
Enable clock to all DIMMS = Disabled
Memory Tristate = Disabled
Memory Hole = Enabled
Unganged Mode = Enabled
Power Down Enable = Enabled
Power Down Mode = Channel
