Question about Panasonic Panafax UF-885 Plain Paper Laser Fax

1 Answer

The machine is in a loop

Machine asks us to "enter station(s)", then it says UF885, then it acts like it will dial, but only one number and then goes back to the "enterstation(s)"
Turning off and or pulling plug has not helped. I am guessing I need to shut down the entire program/ memory and start from scratch, but I cannot get it to do so.

Help.

I don't understand the one touch dialing on the HP 2140

Hi Suzeo. Many HP fax machines have the function you are requesting. It is called the broadcast fax feature. Look in your owner manual for this feature. If I knew which model you have I would have researched it for you. IF by chance, your machine does not have this feature, it would be money well spent to replace your current machine with one that does. Depending on how many pages the daily fax is, I am estimating that you are spending an hour or more each day on this task. J.

How to specify fax machine to dial '9' before fax number?

Hello ilay,

This procedure is from the Brother FAX-4100e FAQ link:

Storing Speed Dial numbers:
You can store Speed Dial locations on your machine(*). Once you have programmed the Speed Dial number on your machine, you can dial the number by pressing Search/Speed Dial, #(Pound Sign), the Speed Dial number, and then Fax Start.
*The number of locations you can store varies by machines. Please refer to the User's Guide for your machine. The latest User's Guide is available in the Manuals section.

To store Speed Dial numbers follow the steps listed below:

1. Press Menu.
2. Press the left or right arrow key to select Fax and press Set.
3. Press the left or right arrow key to select Set Auto Dial or Set Quick Dial, and press Set.
4. Press the left or right arrow key to select Speed-Dial and press Set.
5. Use the dial pad to enter the location (Speed Dial number) where you wish to store the number and press Set.
6. Enter the number you want to store (up to 20 digits) and press Set.

Note:
If you want to enter a pause in the dialing sequence (to wait for an outside line, for example), press Redial/Pause as you're entering digits. Pressing Redial/Pause enters a 3.5-second pause when the number is dialed, and a dash appears on the screen. If you need a pause longer than 3.5 seconds you can press Redial/Pause as many times as needed.
7. Use the dial pad to enter the name or company name (up to 15 characters) and press Set.
If you want to store the number without a name, just press Set.
8. Return to STEP 5 to store another Speed Dial number or press Stop/Exit to exit the menu.

One Touch Dialing numbers won't permanently save to FAX machine

If you followed the procedure F 7, 2 set, 1 for speed dial, enter your free speed dial space, enter your fax #, set, enter the name, set.(continue to next free speed dial key or stop) If this doesn't work then you may have a bad battery on the main board that saves the data if the power goes off.

No loop current

Check the line cable. Try inserting that line to another telephone unit. And if there's still no dial tone the problem is on the line itself. You should call your line provider. But if the line is ok, check the LIU connectors if it is inserted correctly. It the connectors are ok, then the possible problem is on the tel. line circuit on its mainboard.
