Dell laptops of this series had a diagnostic partition of about 14 MB, but no recovery partition. They shipped this laptop with an OEM version of the OS on CD and a driver CD to use after the OS was re-installed.

You mean a recovery partition on your HD? No. Reload your OS.

SOURCE: Dell Latitude D620 Laptop Screen Resoltuion Stuck at 800 x 600

Hi,

Initially, pls check if the Display Drivers are installed by having a look inside Device Manager. There should not be any yellow or red marks particularly on VGA Controller or Display. Additionally, pls check the laptop's Display Properties (Control Panel) and verify in the Settings tab, Advanced button, that the monitor selected is an LCD/TFT.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I av a dell latitude c500/600 and need the usb driver its running on xp cheers

All drivers for XP in the C600/C500 should be native to Windows XP Dell never shipped XP on that model so they never had any drivers for XP.
If you have issue with USB devices on that model, try booting to the safe mode, remove the USB devices in Device Manager, then reboot in normal mode and let them re-detect.

Screen resolution resets to 800x600 after every reboot when d/port is connected.

You may have to set the monitors resolution to match the pc as they may be different.
