Question about Nikon COOLPIX L4 Digital Camera

1 Answer

The flash won't work!

My L4 has been working fine with no problems until I tried switching it on a couple of days ago and despite having changed none of the settings, the flash won't work at all. The continuous setting is set at single, the BSS isn't on, the flash is currently set to AUTO and I've tried changing the batteries and making sure the option is set according to the type of battery I'm attempting to use (rechargeable or non-rechargeable). I'm at a loss - can anyone suggest anything? Other than taking it back to where I bought it from and seeing if they can help? Thanks

Re: The flash won't work!

Hold it to your ear and listing for the singing noise the capacitor should make when charging up. If you cant hear this then it is dead Flash units are integral to the main board usually A new camera is the only cure. However try Nikon Technical support before giving up completely

I bought a FujiFilm FinePix S1600 one month ago. I used it for couple of times and was working fine. Then suddenly I couldn't switch it on. When I press the power on just flashes and it is not switched on....

The sounds like a systems control board problem, or the systems control has detected an issue with the camera. The only option is to return it to the place of purchase for repair or exchange.

My camera turns on, the lens extends, and the flash works, but the screen is black; lit, but black. I tried taking a picture, but that was black as well and changing the batteries didn't work. It was fine...

That is a real problem. You need to take it to a service centre and get replaced lence balancing system.
It is better to buy a new camera. I had the same problem and took it the service centre they wanted to charge me almost the same price as the camera.. so I got a new one.. it is perfect

I've had my camera for about 3 years now and have never had any problems until a couple of weeks ago. When I turned the camera on, it forced me to reset date/time and would occasionally show aperture 00...

Try getting new trusted brand batteries like duracell, And also if it forces you to change the D/T just change it. Also try getting a new memory card. (trusted brand). If none of this works then there might be a prob. Maybe someone dropped it. Try asking the company 2.

Hope this helps

We purchased a Nikon Coolpix L4 some 18 months ago in Tenerife, which is working fine apart from the flash unit which no longer flashes, despite the light coming on. Local shops say repairs,if...

This is generally the case, especially for cameras older than 9 months.
Repairs including the shipping from to - from Nikon are usually around $150.

You would be better off buying a Nikon L18 for under $129

I work in the camera dept. of a certain store, and we always recommend the service plan for these occasions!

Flash Error

The error 5 can mean that there is something blocking the flash from popping up. If it is up but still get the message then you need to check to see if the little black pin/stick that lets the camera know that the flash is up, is not stuck. With the flash up and pointed at you ( like you are going to take a picture of yourself) the pin is located on the right side close to the where the flash attaches to the camera. Yo should see a little pin sticking up. make sure that area is free of dust and /or debris. if it is not up then that is the problem. try to free it with out braking it or get it professionally repaired.

Nikon Coolpix L4 flash not working

This has happened to mine a couple of times. I cannot select flash, and the blur indicator is on most of the time.
Solution is to go into 'menu', select 'SET UP' then 'reset all'. My flash selection then works again.
Since one doesn't tend to set much up with a basic camera like this, resetting shouldn't cause any issues.
Hope this helps

i think the firmware is corrupted ..... you must install new firmware ....
just visit the nearby showroom or technician he will install the new firmware ..........
for installing firmware it may costs some 300 to 400 bugs ....
how ever there may be other problems too may be the battery is dead just change battery and check....
check whether it is detecting in pc or not..........
