That 4 pin plug generally supplies power to the processor. It depends on the processor type. Unfortunately the next step in troubleshooting is to replace the motherboard or the processor and there really isn't a good way to know which one first.

SCHEMATIK DIAGRAM FOR POWER SUPPLI

I would also have liked to have had a schematic diagram for my ECHOSTAR 450w ATX power supply.

Not having one though, I have replaced two capacitors (one with a bulging top) and another with a leaking top, three rectifiers (two shorted and the third had a cracked case), and have ordered transistor Q1 (also shorted). Will also need to repair trace damage on the bottom of the circuit board. Other components check out OK so I hope it will be working again after the transistor arrives Monday. I need the -5v this one supplies to get my old computer running so I can retrieve last year's tax info.

The unit can't work properly. the purple cable for 5v is ok and also the green one for ps on.but the others are spoiled out, incuding the blower.

There is a partial damage of your power supply. Rather
than troubleshooting the defect., It is advised to buy a
replacement. Troubleshooting it will be expensive than
buying. Hope this helps.

I tried several different cards but no luck. Cards work ok on other computers.

5V Stand-By Indicator LED
The power supply will always supply a 5V standby voltage to your
motherboard so that it can power on via for example Wake On Lan
technology. This LED shows that your power supply is supplying
this standby voltage to your motherboard.n :D

You may need to replace your power supply, if the LED is flashing, it's not supplying the power the motherboard needs.

Desktop won't start.

Try to replace the power supply with another known working power supply from another P4 desktop and then reconnect your wires from the front panel led lights, changing them around until they are in the correct position. I had an almost similar problem and I did the above, it is working now. All the best ! sirjohn

Cyberhome CH-DVD 300 DVD - YELLOW light indicator of what problem?

Marlin P Jones & Assoc. Inc.. has a 5V 2.2A /12V 1.5A cord power supply that will fit into the space where the original power supply was! Lists for $6.95 but online price was $2.95. Works great! Connect 12V supply to the yellow lead and the 5V to the red lead of the output connector, black is ground, common to both supplies. Use QC terminals to the power cord input terminals, remove the cable clamp and the power supply will nestle beautifully in the space without need for support. (Remove the old circuit board plastic (3) and rear brass standoffs and use the front brass standoff for the output cable shield ground connection. (Part No. is 15955-PS) I bought two because I have a 2nd Cyberhome CD-DVD 300 which hasn't crapped out yet.
