Question about Mad Dog Multimedia (md-52xcdr) CD-RW Burner
Hello, I pushed the bottun to open the tray. That was three days ago, it only stops going in and out when the computer is turned off. Some times it stay open 15-30 seconds before closing and opening. If I push the botton to close it it will close for 10-20 seconds before the procces starts again. I pulled the plug and pushed it close for now. For the last year it has been doing this but it always stop in the close postion and was able to play or copy material after 3-4 minutes. I was able to live like that. Could you please help.
Thank you very much and have a great holiday season,
Jeff
Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

You may have tried this already, but here is another possibility. If you have several drives, digital cameras, etc. that you connect to the computer your machine may be trying to use a drive letter that has already been assigned to another device.
Heres how to check:
right click on My Computer and select "Manage"
under "Storage" you will find "Disk Management"
Locate your mad dog Drive and right click
you want to "Change drive letter and paths"
select a new drive letter
close all windows
a reboot may be necessary
Give it a try and I hope this helps. I had a similar problem when I connected mine to my laptop.

SOURCE: MacBook and Mad Dog Multimedia Compatible?
I have been using my Mad Dog External CD/DVD burner for serveral years now on both Mac & PC. However, I do have intermittant issues when the computer recognizes the Mad Dog but my software does not (Toast). There is no driver for Mac as far as I know. I called Mad Dog one time and they rudely suggested that Mac does not need a driver and that I should know that. No help at all!!! I will try the suggestion for PCs to turn everything off, turn on the Mad Dog, then boot my computer and see if that works. Does anyone else use a Mac and have more solutions?????

SOURCE: Mad Dog USB DVD-RW not recognized
I have had a similar problem to this one in that when I turn the device
on if my computer is already turned on, it does not show up in the list
of available storage devices.
I discovered the cause of the problem.
Whenever I would try to use the DVD-RW/DVD-ROM, I also had another
external storage device connected, being my mp3 player. I disconnected
the mp3 player, left the DVD drive turned on, rebooted my system, and
when I went into "My Computer", it showed the DVD drive connected, with
the letter I had assigned it ("D", since the CD-ROM and CD-RW drives
were assigned the letters "H" and "I", respectively. Don't ask how. I
have no fargin' idea.). I decided to test something out. I put in a
DVD, watched a few minutes of it, took it out, then turned the device
off. I reconnected my mp3 player, then turned the DVD drive back on.
I opened up "My Computer", and after it took a minute to locate all
drives, it found the mp3 player, but not the DVD drive. I unplugged
the mp3, rebooted the system, and the DVD showed back up.
In short, if you have another external storage device connected to your
system, like an mp3 player, external hard drive, memory card/stick
reader, digital camera, etc., disconnect that device first, then turn
on the external DVD drive. Double-click on "My Computer" (if you are
using Windows), and it should show up. If not, reboot your system and
then open up "My Computer". It should be listed then.

Here is a link from Microsoft for unrecognized external devices. Click on the "Fixit" button to install the registry patch. Hopefully this will get you going. Best of luck.
