Question about Sony Handycam CCD-TRV68 Camcorder

1 Answer

Handycam CCD-TRV68 control panel/tape door acting like it died.

CCD-TRV68 control panel/tape door acting like it died. After finally getting a new battery then a couple of AC power supplies to play with this I was trying to just eject the old tape to install a bland new one and it would just sometimes rewind or fast forward until powered off. Now the buttons on the cover/control pad don't do anything, did get it to rewind a few more times but that didn't last long and now nothing seems to work on that "Bad place to put buttons" button panel!

This is a common problem often caused by a problem with the head/motor assembly. This is not a DIY repair. It is possible that this can be repaired without any parts. Expect to pay in the $150 range for labor.

I have an older camcorder that hasn't been used in a while. When I went to try to view the tapes made on the camera, I just get a blue screen with a white play arrow. The tape is moving inside though. It...

The video drum inside the tape mechanism consists of two sets of heads. One set for recording and one for playback. It's possible the playback heads are damaged, in which case the video drum will need to be replaced. It's also possible the video drum may simply be oxidized in and the camera only needs servicing and the drum deoxidized. I don't reccomend using "cleanning tapes" as they can sometimes do more harm thab good although you try. You might get lucky and this will solve your problem.

No power and does not indicate charging Problem

Sony camcorders C:31:23 error
Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.
good luck
