Optoma EP745 Will not turn on

We replaced the lamp, and when we went to switch it back on the projector did not respond.  The manuals simply tells us to call support, who cannot help us.Have an Optoma EP 745. The color wheel shattered. Am looking for a replacement color wheel, but when I first checked my lamp and placed it back in (it was OK) I had the same power off problem. Will not turn on. Am guessing that if I get the color wheel repaired, I will have the same problem. Don't want to chase goo money after a bad projector.

If one the main parts like the color wheel or the lamp are not in working order the projector will not power up.
Click here and try the phone number from the last post and see if you can buy the color wheel.
At this point is up to you if you want to spend more money to fix the projector.

You are correct, there gets to be the point of no return with this kind of problem, even if you get it working, something else will blow, and now you find that you spent all this money and it went to waste. It sounds like this is the situation with this problem, so instead of sending you to all of the websites to fix the problem, "maybe", I agree with what you said perhaps a new one is the way to go. I just hd the Tv in my bedroom go, and will not even bother with fixing a ten yr old tv, Something else will go next month, treat yourself to an early Christmas present. Peace, to you and yours, Gym

Turns on and calls for replace lamp, I already did it and still calling for replace lamp. Fan turns on and that's it power and lamp lights are on thanks

Projectors keep a lamp life clock to track the age of a bulb. The clock needs to be reset with each bulb that is inserted. Here are the steps with your particular projector:

1)Power on projector
2) Go to "menu"
3) Choose "Options"
4) Choose "Lamp Settings"
5) Choose "Lamp Reset"
6) Select Yes

Certain models require you to hold "Lamp Reset" for a particular amount of time. It could be instantly, 3 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds... Just have to play until it responds.

Once that is reset you should be good.

Used my OPTOMA HD70 ABOUT 2years now -and had to replace the lamp i unplugged it and when turning it back on to work - it does not start , it`s dead the green led lamp does not flicker , does not work...

There is a switch on the side where you insert the lamp, it's black with a metal contact. If, when the lamp cover is replaced, it does not "activate" this switch for some reason (i.e. it is loose or perhaps bent) then the projector will not power at all.

Just remove the lamp and take a look at the switch for possible damage incurred from when you replaced the lamp.

My Optoma HD72 projector operates for about 1 minute and then shuts off. I kept my old bulb around "just in case", I've replaced the bulb with the old one and have the same problem.

The problem is not over-heating. The Optoma HD72 has a known problem that Optoma won't advertise. The lamp driver is faulty. They simply have to replace the lamp driver. I purchased a spare lamp with my original purchase. I had the exact same experience as you at around 1200 hours on the lamp in ECO mode. I used the spare lamp. Same thing happened at about 1200 hours. I had a friend at Optoma. he confided to me the problem. I sent it in and they replaced the lamp driver at no charge. I got another 800 hours out of the first lamp and am now using my second lamp and have about 600 hours on it. The pic quality is so good with this projector (used Digital Video Essentials to calibrate) that I'll just order a bare lamp or two and use the existing lamp housings when I need a new bulb.

Optoma EP745 Will not turn on

Got mine to turn on even without the color wheel. The trick is to place the new lamp in and screw down all screws. When replacing the cover besure that the protruding plastic enters on the correct side of the wire switch in side. Tighten the lamp cover screws and do CPR on the center of the cover to ensure the wire switch has moved to the on position below the cover. Plug in the power to see if it works. If not, do CPR with your thumbs on the center of the lamp cover again. Usually this will fix it.
