Dear hoppygink, Canon pixma ip1200 series (ip1200,1600,2200) identify the first new cartridge installed in the printer and detects ink level properly unless you put another used cartridge or you its own cartridge to another printer. Once you do this, ink level of the cartridge become unknown. So, never exchange its own cartridge with another ip1600 printer. This will be back to normal condition when you replace with new fresh one catridge that never used before. This weakness has been improved by canon in pixma ip1300 series (ip1300 & 1700) anyway. To prevent this problem occurs, you need to back up EEPROM data of the printer by using EEPROM restore tools before perform cartridge exchange. I will discuss this in Canon Inkjet Forum in the next coming chance. Please send me your email to: [email protected] so I can notice you immediately after posting the topic. Regards,
