Need to replace ballast on mitsubishi wd-62526

Had a red LED lamp light so i replaced the lamp. Still had the red light so I returned lamp and tried another, Lamp status light still red. I then took it to get diagnosed at a repair center and they said it was the lamp ballast. Is this something I could replace at home?, could I replace this and the TV still not work?, or shoyuld I just let the TV go and stay away from Mitsubishi's?

I replaced my own the part cost $109,it was somewhat time consuming since taking the back panel off was a learn as I went.However I still didn't get the red LED to go off.....TV still would not power up in it's normal fashion.Previously I had 2 lamps burn out,and you definetly could tell they burned out.Since then I have changed the power supply feeding($130) the ballast circuit and I still haven't got the TV to come on without defaulting to the red LED,and taking the chasis apart to do this was a real pain.I have posted a question about my problem recently.Still waiting for a solution.Mitsubishi won't sell a customer any parts........they want you to go to atechnician that works on their product.GOOD LUCK!

There is a good chance that it is not the ballast.
you would need to measure the voltage on the heavy wires going to the ballast. to see if there is approx 300vdc on them if not or if it is low then the problem is in the chassis or the engine.

Mitsubishi WD-62526 turns on-n-off

I would bet the illumination lamp has reached the end of it's life (~$40 online). Should be easy to replace. Also possible the ventilation vents need cleaning, which could cause the lamp to overheat and turn off.

My mitsubishi wd-62526 red light is on for lamp and there is no picture

this indicates a bad lamp. your owners manual has instructions for replacing. there will be a lamp door on the back or behind the speaker grille. if the lamp is shattered or bulged/white it is bad. if the lamp looks good, you may have bad capacitors on your power supply.

Mitsubishi 52525 TV Red Lamp LED

340v should be on power pwb plug PL on the 1 and
5 (GND) pins for the ballast. and the ballast plug CN should also have the 340V with pin 1 of that plug being GND nd pin 3 should have the 340V If the PL plug on the power board is low the power pwb has a problem most likely the doubler circuit. If CN plug voltage is high say 360V the ballast is suspect.

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
