unit alternates between the paper jam error code and the carriage jam
error code. No visable jam anywhere to be found. Cleaned all rollers,
carrier moves freely, cleaned memory strip (just in case).

It frequently gives the message, "Carriage jam.  Open door.  Clear carriage jam, and then press OK."
Of course, nowhere in the manual are there any instructions on how to clear the carriage jam - nothing seems to be a problem when I check.  This happens repeatedly.

Then maybe, eventually, I can get it to print.  How, I don't know.

    The manual is useless.

I was just getting ready to pull the plug on this printer of mine, and order a new one, when I happened on a solution that worked...

Unplug the unit.
Open the top.
Move the carriage to the left.
CLEAN the black plastic tray that the ink cartridge "parks" over - it seems to collect gunky ink that impedes the movement of the cartridge... also clean the "rail" hehind it. I used a Windex knock-off -- and Q-Tips, somebody else said they used alcohol.

Seems to have done the trick for me. I wasted so much time downloading drivers thinking that it was a hardware problem :-(

Hello, I got an error message 5C10. What does that

I just had this error message appear on my computer screen and the 6A00 on my MP830 printer at the same time. I heard this error mean a few things (paper jam, ink carriage stuck), though not sure what it does actually mean. I moved the carriage back-and-forth, blasted compressed air and checked for paper jams. When nothing worked, I looked inside and saw a lot of spilled ink, I'm guessing from not using genuine Canon ink. I blotted the inside with paper towels (use gloves!!),especially the far right, and took out the ink cartridges and blotted the carriage. I replaced everything, powered the printer off and on, and it worked fine. I would suggest first to slide the carriage back-and-forth and look for paper jams before cleaning the ink. Hope this works for you.

HP PSC 2355 try to print a document and receive an error "Print cartridge carriage is stalled " "Open door, clear carriage jam, and then press OK to continue." I tried this and there is...

Hello,
This can be said as a bit complicated problem. This problem is exhibited by the printer when the cartridge carriage mechanism is getting stuck at some end. I should advice that you make sure that the SS ( Service Station ) of the printer is not jammed / clogged. If yes, try cleaning it. It is also caused when the motor is malfunctions and tries to move the carriage beyond the path that it should go.
It is best recommended that you consult an authorized HP Service person for the solution of this issue.
Thank you.

My printer is giving me 2 error messages. One is

Hello,

For the cartridge jam, that means that either the ink is not properly installed or there is one tiny piece of something blocking the sensors. Same is true with the carriage jam. Please try to look for small bits of paper and remove it.

Is the ink newly installed?
