Question about Cisco IP Communicator (SWIPCOMME1CH1)

Bad voice quality on HP 6730b laptop when used with CISCO IP comm

Hi I have recntly bought HP 6730b laptop. I am using CISCO IP communicator used to call my office. I am using the company build on this laptop.

When I use this VoIP application, the sound quality is very bad and remote party could not hear me. I tried with Eyebeam and Xlite VoIP applications too but same behaviour. Do anyone has solution for this behaviour. I tried to re-install the sound card driver and tried with normal OS to test te application. But no go.

    I’m using a HP6530b laptop with installed cisco ip communicator 2.0.2

    At home I connect via a wireless connection and a VPN client on my laptop to my business network

    My new headset is analog connected into audio jacks (in front) of my laptop



    I can logon to my VoIP phone at my work and receive phone calls

    The sound quality however is to such a degree that I’m not able to hear who is on the call



    The “optimize for low bandwidth” within IP communicator does not make any difference

    I’ve also tested it by connecting my laptop to the internet adslmodem throug a thread (utp cable)

    what options do I have to improve the sound quality?

How to access Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration ?


from what I have researched on the web you need to download the Cisco unified Communications Manager software on to the P.C you wish to use to access the server via the web browser. it states you open the software via a web browser. The reason being the Voip server has no software on it.

Cisco IP softphone - one way audio - fix


Using the Cisco IP soft phone via VPN can sometimes cause audio to drop. To fix this:<br /><br />Right click the Cisco IP Phone and select Preferences...<br />Select the Audio tab<br />Click on the Network button<br />In Audio IP Address select Use this address<br />then set it back to Detect Automatically<br />Click OK and OK again.<br /><br />Give it 5-10 seconds and this will auto reset the audio on the IP phone and will correct the issues with one way audio.<br />

I think you're confused. IP Communicator is the unified communications client (IM and Phone) It is looking for a capatible headset so you can use your softphone. This software is not your VPN client. There are two different cisco product: one for your VPN and one for your phone. If you're trying to ocnnect to an old-style Cisco VPN, your IT dept will have to configure that with a certificate.

This behavior is observed when a user attempts to install or use the IP Communicator on a system that has different names for the Playback (wave out) and Recording (wave in) devices.
In order to overcome this problem, perform one of these tasks:
-Use a USB headset that is recognized by the IP Communicator.
-Upgrade to the latest version of the IP Communicator

Voice over IP having very bad reception after a new cable modem and new router was upgrade


Try looking in the router's "Applications and Gaming" section for something called "QOS", or Quality of Service. You probably need to make some adjustments in there to increase the bandwidth assigned to your VOIP device/service.

Hi

This happens when you IP phone communicated with the Voice vlan with the IP address of data vlan.

To solve it manually enter the IP address of the TFTP server and option 150 on the DHCP server.
remove the voice vlan from the switch port and reboot the phone
again add the voice vlan and reload the phones

The handsets will eventually go bad. If it is every single handset that you have, the problem is with the system.
