1 Answer

I got a ewave microwave from a friend, and installed it, set it for 4 min. and then tried the light for the range the power to the microwave shut off. I thought it might be the outlet that I installed for it but that was not the prob. waited awhile and pluged back in it work and again I did the same thing and again It shut off, It also smells like it is burnning like a furnace would and get real hot. In not sure what to do now, my friend said they never had a problem. please help

I see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the controller assembly, which I regularly repair. Details are here.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

FixYa doesn't notify me when there's a response, so if you have other questions, please contact me directly.

SOURCE: ewave panel is on lock

As per the owner's manual:

The oven operation can be locked to prevent the microwave from accidentally being turned on. All oven functions can be locked.

To Set: Touch and hold the CANCEL/OFF Pad for three seconds. The Display shows “LOCKED” and the oven beeps.

To Cancel: Touch and hold the CANCEL/OFF Pad for three seconds. “LOCKED” disappears from the Display and the oven beeps.

If this does not work, then try a hard reset: Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If it still fails, you probably have a problem with the controller.

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee. It may cost a little more if you need parts, such as a new keypad.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

Over the range microwaves are generally the same as far as the rear dimensions but you will still need to install new mounting brackets and drill new holes in the cabinet. Each brand is slightly differnt in its mounting.
