Keyboard on laptop failed

My keyboard does not work. I have tried holding down the windows key and the Letter L key. The keyboard is not working. My computer will come on. A remote plugged in mouse will work. However the mouse pad and keyboard will not work. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Beth

I have the same issue- everything was working fine, and then the keyboard and mouse stopped working. Mine is a laptop and neither the touchpad, external mouse nor the keyboard work. It boots up and shuts down fine (with the power button), but while booting, even F2 doesn't work nor can I use the arrows to scroll through the boot options (Safe mode, etc.) Can anyone help?

There is no problem in the device manager. I was typing then went away today and when I cam back, It wouldn't type. It has happened for a few days now. i have rebooted, I have been unplugging the power bar, I have taken out the battery all in an effort to reboot. What could this be?

It sounds like your keyboard has probably failed, and needs replacing.

In the short-term, you could get hold of a USB keyboard and plug that in to use instead.

A letter in the keyboard is not working - the higher area of the key does not move but the lower area can be moved down. What do I do ?lease ? Thankyou

Given the situation you describe, the issue is probably down to sticking keys (remove the key and clean underneath) or more likely, a failing keyboard which will need replaced

Your windows key (the one with the flag) appears to be blocked. Try pressing them both (or 1, if you only have 1) once, see if the keys work again. If not, try taking the keys off the keyboard (just put somthing under them and pull) and put them bac on. If that doesn't help either, you will have to have your keyboard replaced.

Keyboard letter not working

Disabling just a single key on Windows is possible, but it is highly unlikely that a computer technician could have gone to Control Panel to remap the keyboard.

More likely, one of the keyboard switches is broken, and the A letter is not working anymore. This happens quite commonly, and when the problem occurrs, the keyboard will be replaced.

You can find out if problem is hardware or software going to CMOS settings, and chosing to set a password. Then setting BIOS password AAA. If the A letter works in there, then the problem is software, and it can be fixed reinstalling Windows, if A key does not work in BIOS settings, then the keyboard must be replaced.

The keyboard for an Acer 5315 is not an expensive part, and can be purchased for less than $20.

If a repair job had recently been done, and the laptop came back withthe keyboard problem, try calling back the repairman, and insisting for having the repair done at a reduced fee.

Hp pavilion dv1000 laptop pc keyboard not working properly.

Does this computer KB work alright in SAFE mode? If it does then drivers and/or viruses are the problem. If it doesn't work in SAFE mode then it could be drivers and or keyboard. Now try booting into BIOS. At the date prompt you usually can type any keyboard letter. If the keyboard works here, then you definately have driver/virus issues. If not replace the keyboard.
