SOURCE: my dvd player rdr-hxd860 seems to be frozen on 'welcome'

I've had the same problem. I've actually unplugged the unit and it's been unplugged for probably about two weeks. When I reconnected the power this morning the problem persisted where the DVD Recorder was stuck on the Welcome Screen. As a last ditch effort I pressed and held the power button for 10 to 15 seconds until the word "Welcome" dissapeard of the screen and back on. This seems to have reset the unit. I know I should have tried this a long time ago. So much for reading the instruction manual! I'm just glad it's working again!

It is possible that the processor IC has some garbage in it do to a small power surge, and if you unplug it from the wall for 40 Min. it will reset back to normal.

Hi,
For erasing the Playlists from the Player, you've to use the same Software which you've used to transfer the Playlists. The steps on deleting the Playlists depends on the Software used for transferring. Please go through the HELP files in the Software for the information on deleting the songs.

When deleting files to free up space on the Masterlink's drive, is it necessary to not only delete tracks but also audio files?

Yes, you need to scroll beyond the end of the current playlist, and delete the tracks from the disc, not merely delete it/them from the playlists

How do you create a playlist?

Solution 1 In the Sansa drive in Windows Explorer select the songs that you want in the playlist. Right click and create playlist. You can do minimal playlist editing through the playlist file properties. Drag files to the references tab to add files.
There is a free playlist creator which creates playlists for each folder on the sansa player with one click. it is written in .NET and does not alter the music files (http://www.infosys.tuwien.ac.at/staff/cp/playlist_creator.zip).
There is also one written in Python that should work on both linux and Windows (http://people.ifm.liu.se/yohell/make_playlists.py).

Solution 2 Try Musicmatch Jukebox or MediaMonkey. Both of those should be able to create a music library using only files from the device. Then sort them by artist and album, and delete them from the library, deleting the files as well. Transfer new files to the device as files (MSC USB mode on the player), not by syncing. You can create a new music library on the fly if you've made extensive changes. It doesn't take much time. Playlists should not contain drive letters or folder names, so edit them in Notepad, unless you have an app that makes them on the fly (suggestions?).
You can keep your main database in MediaMonkey, and open the Sansa device (see the plus and click on it). You'll be able to delete files from there. But if you double click on a song on the Sansa device, the wrong song will play. Dunno why, but that's what happens on my computer. But deleting files works.

Solution 3 Rename all your tracks so artist (look for batch renaming feature in your software. Add example of freeware editor?), album and song name is in the file name. That won't be visible in the player, but can aid administration if you use the player in MSC mode.

Solution 4 A how-to for using Windows Media Player and syncing to make playlists can be found here.
added by thatsRich 04-08-06 - I was having trouble sorting on my Sansa m250 using drag and drop with basic file management for mp3s. After seeing this article, I tried Windows Media Player (version 10) and found that perfect for the job. Since you can drag mis-sorted files in the left pane, they "sync" in proper order.

Sony dvd rdr gx300 failure to delete discs

You can delete titles on a DVD+/-R, but it will not free up disc space. These are not "rewritable (RW)" disks.

To reuse discs, start with a DVD +/-RW. Be sure to format it "VR," not "Video."

I have an mp3 player and i need help creating playlists and deleting

The below was copyed froma an earlier post of mine, read the bottom. Over a period of time your info can get corrupt from transering music back and forth. To format plug it in to usb. Go to my computer It shows up as a removably disc, usually drive f: Right click on drive f: (or the approriate drive) and click format. Let me know what happens, you will have reload the player, also try bypassing the software you are using to tranfer, by opening up drive f: and clicking and dragging your music into it , or you can copy and paste it into drive f: L8R Playlists can be created by puttung your music in separte folders within drive f:, each folder will show up as a playlist. Good Luck
