Question about Agri-Fab Agri Fab Universal Tow Behind Tiller #45 0308

Tiller wont stay behind tow vehicle

I bought a used tow behind tiller, an older rotospade brand, it has a 5hp motor and runs well, the problem I'm having is keeping it straight behind my ATV or mower. The yoke isn't permanantly attached to the tiller, it attached with a pin and then the other end is attached with a pin to the tow vehicle. If I have the tines rotating forward the tiller wants to come around on me and tries to climb the tow vehicle. If I have the tines rotating backwards the tiller bounces out of control. My guess is I need to weld the yoke onto the tiller to help control it in forward gears but I'm not sure. I'm also guessing I need to add weight to stop the bouncing when the tines are in reverse. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks, Tom.

Why won't my rotor tiller stay running after starting Its a briggs and stratton

95% of run ability problems are carb related. It needs to be disassembled and cleaned. Do you leave gas in it at the end of season,if yes always drain the tank and let it run till it stops next time before storage. Good luck

Wizard rototiller model 5hp. Briggs. Not getting fuel somehow. Fixed carberator. Spark plugs cleaned everything out... what could be the issue

is it a bowl style carb and you cleaned it is it a diaphram style and you replaced the diaphram ?the older 5hp briggs engines would run fine if you started it with carb cleaner some leaked head gaskets and could create enough vac to draw in the fuel

Have an older tiller w/a 5hp briggs motor, no spark, had to repair inside wire going to coil, still no fire, are there points inside flywheel i should check & does flywheel pull off

First check continuity of coil to ensure there are no breaks .If there is a wire heading in under the flywheel, it is probably going to the points. Check coil is grounded properly.
The points are normally behind the flywheel which you will have to remove using a pullers. The nut holding the flywheel on to the shaft normally loosens in the same direction as the flywheel rotates but if there is any shaft thread exposed above the nut, check the threads to confirm this.
The capacitor near the points may be shorted, disconnect it to check this with a continuity tester.

I have automatic 2001 Ford Explorer sport trac bought from USA, the car did not run since i received it because it does not move when i put the level to D nor R position.

What you can try is to start the vehicle, put it in Neutral, press on the brake, and while doing that press the 4x4 Button and hold it for 5 seconds. If this does not help, you will need an Owners Manual for Year specific information.

You want to reset your Transfer case from being towed to Run. It sounds like your unit was switched to the current Mode for transit. Another idea is to contact the Tow company who delivered it for advice on this setting. Even if you used a Tow dolly yourself, I imagine the towtruck drivers would need to know how to switch this setting when they tow an Explorer themselves.

This Tow mode is used to enable towing the SUV behind a Motorhome. The Automatic transmissions need lubricant on the seals or they will burn up. The Tow mode disengages the Transfer case and keeps some of the parts from turning. You need to look at Year specific information because of the difference in Automatic transmissions. For a short time, there were engine options which included a different transmission for better mileage with bigger engines.

The older models needed a Tow dolly and the newer models can just use a Tow bar on the frame.
I hope my opening statement fixed your problem. Should you want to Tow your SUV behind another vehicle, you will need to use the Tow feature.

I need a manual for model 842252441 craftsman rear mount tiller. I bought a new engine for my tiller and am having a problem with exchanging the new for the old specifically the crankshaft.

I was looking at various manuals available for craftsman tow-behind tillers. If you click this link you'll find 7 models of craftsman tow-behind tillers listed. While I didn't find your exact model, one or more of these manuals might be useful.

Also, I noticed that on the 486.252442 manual, it mentioned contacting Sears has rebranded many company's products as Craftsman over the years. I suspect in this case, Sears repackaged a Agri Fab 71-252441 as the 842252441. I found a few web sites selling a paper manual for the 71-252441, but I didn't find anywhere to download an electronic copy.

Agri-Fab's website is and their contact page lists a toll free contact number (800) 448-9282. Their web site had manuals for 6 tow-behind tillers, but none of the models obviously matches up. You may be able to look at them and ID your model better than I. You could also try giving them a call maybe someone can ID their model number for your tiller.

Hope this helped. If so, please give it a thumbs up!

Tiller wont stay running..

Clean out the small fuel inlet ports behind the diaphragm. Sounds like they are clogged up. Use the end of a paperclip to gently make sure the passages are open. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Can't find filler plug on transmission

Jim the older tillers did not have a place to put grease in. You have to break the case apart then it takes 00 grease. These are sealed units and don't need additional grease. Check with parts lookup for a new manual. I am on my second Craftsman r/t tiller now rebuilt the transmission on the first and wore it completly out then bought a new about 8 years ago. About to rebuild the transmission on it.
