Dimage g500 not saving pictures to memory stick

Everytime I take pictures it saves into the internal memory instead of the memory stick.. Any suggestions? I thought it would be simple by playing with the setup menu - but maybe i over looked something.. please help!!

i tried to format the memory stick - but i can't highlight the MS option.. (There is SD, MS, and internal memory).. So it seems like it's not recognizing that a memory stick is even in it.. I tried putting in another MS and it didn't work either.. Could the card reader just be broken? I bought the camera refurbished.. What would be the best option in terms of finding out what's wrong? Thanks!!!!!!!!

Here is the link to the manual if you need it; http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/digital_cameras/dimage-g/dimage_g500/D_G500_E.pdf page 105 describes how to set the memory priority between the stick and the camera. If this doesn't help then try formatting the stick (page 99) If still no joy then I suspect the memory stick is faulty - see if you can borrow one and try it. Hope this helps - please post again if not :)

There is possibly something in the card reader or a bent or broken contact spring - only way to be sure is to look with a magnifying glass - a small thing could do it and sometimes you cant see it with the naked eye.

Cleaning the contacts can be done - the best method I have heard of is to cut a piece of cardboard (something like toilet roll centre cardboard) to the same size and shape as a memory stick, then moisten the "contact" side slightly with gin (dont get it soggy) and insert and remove. Make sure no small bits of card get left behind - they shouldn't if you are careful.

Hope this helps and is not too late :)

p.s. also try formatting the card on a pc.

Cannot take so much pictures. what is a memory stick. is it different from memory card?

A memory stick generally refers to a USB device that you use to transfer digital media from one device to another. Your camera would utilize a memory card - depending on your camera this could be a CF card (bigger almost square) or a SD card (looks like a SIM card.

As to the number of pictures you can take: This depends on a number of things - 1) Internal memory of the Camera 2) Size of your memory card 3) Settings you shoot with.

Depending on the camera you have you can set the quality and type of format - format could be your camera's raw capability which is usually the largest size to save an image in or it could be set to JPEG (here you normally have settings like Fine, Medium and High or Small, Medium, Large) some cameras only offer JPEG output and will only show you the option to set it on small, medium or large.

Smaller size = More photos, but keep in mind that this affects what you can do with the photo. If you want to use it for the Web or mobile then small is no problem, if you want to print the photo then a medium (preferably large) setting should be used.

The best is to have multiple cards and then you can continue shooting even if you are not at a place where you can download what you have already.

Getting an internal memory full message on my kodak easyshare c143 camera but it only has 9 pictures on it?

The internal memory is very small. You need to be saving the pictures to a memory card instead. However, Kodak cameras have this nasty habit....once you save a picture to its internal memory, it won't save to a memory card. To make your card work, remove it from the camera...go into the camera menu and find "format"....follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory....insert your card and it should work properly.

How to save a picture to a memory stick,,

Hi,

Even if the Memory Stick Duo is inserted in the Camera, the images will not be saved in the Memory Stick Duo until the capacity of the Internal Memory is full. To save the images in the Internal Memory to the Memory Stick Duo, select the EXPORT option from the Viewing Menu of the Camera. Touch the MENU icon when viewing images to select the IMPORT option.
There are two option in the Viewing Menu of the Camera (Export and Import). Export option is to save from Internal Memory to Memory Stick and Import is for saving from Memory Stick to the Internal Memory.
This Camera is having 4GB of Internal Memory, hence the images captured will get saved in the Internal Memory first and then to Memory Stick once the Internal Memory is full.

My dsc-w80 keeps saving all of my pics to the internal memory

Set camera on playback mode, you will see any saved picture in internal memory. Insert memory card and lcd screen will show you either blue screen if memory card has no picture files or will show you picture in memory card. That means memory card is intact with camera and ready to store fresh picture.
Set camera to camera mode and take few fresh pictures and check them in playback mode.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

I don't have a memory stick so I need to know how to save pictures to the internal memory.

You don't have to do anything. If you don't have a memory stick in the camera then all pictures will be saved to the internal memory.

Samsung s1050 says file error

Are you able to transfer the images to the computer? It looks like a memory stick problem.. If your camera has internal memory then pull out the memory stick and save images to internal memory.. If the pictures are alright then you have to replace the memory card.. Do not buy them on ebay. 60% of the times you get fake stuff over there..

How to use a minolta dimage g500 camera

Do you mean the memory card in your camera or do you mean another device?

First check that your memory card works in another device. There is a lock button on the SD card that needs to be unlocked.

Second, check that your camera settings have the SD card option selected. You can select the destination of your images.

Saving Pictures

My camera has a setting buried in the menu somewhere and you just select "use card" instead of internal memory. There are only 2 options, internal or external. You'll find it.
