No adjustment avail. Get someone to shake steering whils you look from under bonnet feel rack etc. I think you can replace the rack ends, (the arms that connect rack to track rod end)

  • Jan Post May 15, 2014

I replaced my lower control arm and strut assemblies because my car was noisey over bumps in the road. Ball joints and tie rods are ok. The motor mounts look ok with the exception of the transmission mount which has some dry rotting cracks. I was wondering if the subframe bushings could be the problem. The car is 17 years old and I am suspecting them as the culprit. Sway bar bushings in the front are acceptalbe condition.

SOURCE: 1999 hyundai windscreen wiper arms have lots of free play

Usally the motor is under the bonnet and the arms are in the front air intake in front of the windshild. Sedans are difficult to get out and need to be timed when replaced. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1990surf clutch wont return

the pedal freeplay should be about a quarter of an inch. This is the area the pedal travels before the first amount of pressure is applied. have you checked your clutch fluid? if its low you should scope for leaks, check the master cylinder and slave cylinder, pull back the rubber boot and check for any fluids. i would do this only if the fluid is low. have you had any clutch work done recently?

How do you tighten the steering wheel in a 1997 jeep cherokee?

this sounds like a steering rack/track rod problem , will need to go to a repairer as this can only be measured by specific equipment, have a look at inside and outside edges of front tyres , are they worn smooth? does it pull to one side when driving ? if so definately needs looking at very soon as could be dangerous

Loose mitsubishi galant power steering gear

Free play is usually preset so excessive play suggests a possible problem. DON'T drive the car if there is a lot of free play. Jack the car up AND ONTO AXLE STANDS! Your going to be shaking the car around.
Rock the front wheel, using a bit of force, from top to bottom and then left to right. Your feeling for movement and listening for clicks and 'clonks'. This is to check the ball joints and wheel bearing. Do this both sides.
Remove the road wheels and re-check the rack, rods and arms. One of these might be faulty. There might even be a loose fitting somewhere.
*Note* there are rare occasions where 'new' parts can be faulty before fitting.

What to ajust to alignment on front end 91 cavalier z24

You should probably take your car to a reputable mechanic to determine the problem. If you were in an accident there is probably component damage and a simple adjustment will fix the problem.

2000 ford explorer linkage cable . Can it be ajusted ?

same problem with my 1998 Ford Expedition, there was a lot of free play on the shift gear handle and therefore had trouble finding the gears, all of them. I looked under the the steering wheel or steering column (by the top of the brake pedal) and found that there were two screws loose, about to fall off actually, tighten both of them up and now is as good as when I drove it off the lot. Hope this helps.

Trying to correct a problem with the steering, it is pulling right and the steering wheel is shaking from left to right and it is more noticeable when in low gear. Wheels have been aligned and balanced...

if pulls right when braking, then l/h brake is faulty, the ajustments on the steering arms not even so steering bob/rack is self centering so r/h ajustment is too tinht,,wheels shaking=wheel bent, out of balance, bearings in hub worn so wheel wobbles
