Question about Samsung Prostar DCS-24B-LCD Corded Phone

1 NEW MESSAGE SHOWING ON DISPLAY - folder empty

We have 1 New Message showing on the display in place of the user name, the problem is that the message folder is empty.. we think it is an internal call transfer message but do not know how to access or delete.

Hi unfortunately you are going to have to program a softkey to be a MSG key, when you have done this press the MSG key and delete the message- you can then re-program back to the original button. How do I turn the ringer on, on the handset?


Press program/mute button to confirm and you may program the following items: Set Language, Handset Name, Ringer Tone, Ringer Volume, Message Alert, Ring To Answer, Security Code, VIP Melody, Key Tone, Audio Predial, Vibrate Ringer, Area Code, Tone/Pulse, Registration, Deregistration and Default Setting.
Ringer Volume
From the Handset Setup Menu:1. Press the caller ID-volume ( 6 or 5) button to scroll to the RINGER VOLUME sub-menu.
2. Press program/mute button to enter the menu. SET RINGER 1HI 2LOW 3OFF shows in the display.
3. Use the touch tone pad on the handset to select 1, 2or 3, or use the caller ID-volume ( 6 or 5) button to scroll to your selection. HI is the default setting.
4. Press the program/mute button to save your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone and the new volume setting shows in the display.
NOTE: If you turn the ringer OFF, the ringer off icon shows in the display.

My message light is blinking fast, I have no messages, but on my display it says msg, 3 arrows and a co workers name, how do i make it stop?


Hi Martha, it sounds like you have either downloaded something and the arrows normally apply to this. My suggestion would be to turn your mobile off the remove the battery. Replace the battery then reboot. Problems like this are normally covered in the users handbook. If not open up Youtube and type the problem into the search window. Most times there are videos showing how to remove the problem. Good luck

I cant dial out it says register HS i am not familiar with the procedure.


When you reset a handset (or if you buy a new one1, that handset displays a Handset Not Registered message. If you see this message on a handset, you need to register it to a base before you can use it.
Registering a handset
Does the handset fit in the base cradle?
Yes
No
Place the handset in the base.
The display should say Handset Registering.
1. On the base, open the menu and select Register Handset. The display should say Handset Registering.
2. On the handset you want to register, press and hold # until the handset display says Handset Registering (about 2 seconds).
In about 30 seconds, the handset display should say Registration Complete. Press TALK ( )/FLASh and make sure you get a dial tone. page29image32024

Making sure the handset is fully charged, then start over at step 1.

After checking message, the words, "message waiting" is still showing on the lcd screen. Hoe do I get rid of this message?


Clear the rest of the messages. In a Panasonic system, the messages can come from other users, either on purpose or by accedent. (Call someone and dial "4" after and see the accident).

On an idle phone, press MESSAGE and look at the display. The 3rd soft key becomes a CLEAR button and you can press it to clear the message that isn't from the voice mail system.

I have a problem with voice mail with a meridian hooked to NT5806DA-93. The system on voice mail every second pulse off so that only half of each message is played at a half second interval


Voicemail Features Norstar Common To Check Your Voicemail:
1. Press the Check Voicemail key or press the Feature button, then 981
2. Enter your password
3. From here you can listen to messages, change your greeting, change your password, etc.
To Leave a Message for Someone in Your Office:
1. Press the Leave Message key or Feature 980
2. Enter the mailbox number (extension number. of the person you want to leave a message for
3. The display will show the name of the mailbox owner, press OK
4. Leave message
To Access Your Voicemail box from Another Phone:
1. Press the Check Voicemail key or press the Feature button, then 981
2. Press the OTHER softkey
3. At the LOG: prompt, enter your mailbox#(extension #. and your password all together followed by the "#" sign
4. Press the OK softkey
To Access Your Mailbox from Outside of the Office:
1. Call the main office number or your DID (if applicable.
2. If the call is answered by a receptionist, have them transfer you to your voicemail box
3. If the call is answered by the company greeting, or your personal greeting, Enter: * *

To Transfer Someone to a Voicemail Box:

Display shows "1 new/1 saved" yet mailbox empty.


The message left on your phone was probably left by someone internal, meaning they called your phone and when you did not answer, they hit their message key which turns on your message lamp and display. If you press your message key and it rings someone in the office then they are the one that left the message and they have to answer your call. You can usually cancel the lamp/message on your phone by pressing " Intercom ( your extension button ) " # 4 0 9 and then hang up. You can have up to four ( 4 ) messages on the phone so it may take putting in the code a couple of times to clear the display.

Message Display


Your voice mail is probably set to send notification for the first message only. No matter how many are in there, it will only tell you once. You may be able to change the notification type, depending on your voice mail.

Initialising Mailbox


To Log Into System Administration:
1. Enter Feature 983
2. The display will show "LOG", enter your login password

2. You will hear the old recorded name and then the system will "beep", prompting you to record a new name (name only here, not greeting..
3. Press "Ok" in the window when you are done recording and then "Ok" again to accept the recording

You did record a message on the answerer, didn't you? Mine displayed that until I recorded the outgoing message for the answerer. You do not need any service from your phone provider. The answerer in the base unit simply records the caller's message when you don't answer after a set number of rings. The manual tells you how to name the handset, which is a nice feature if you don't wish to use "unit 1, unit 2, etc".
